I'm guessing they used a 991 to represent the millionth 911 because the millionth car was a.....991. Also, that's the 911 that VW, er, Porsche is currently hawking. It makes susceptible customers and current owners get exciting over simple marketing...apparently

Never though about it, but you are right. When I compare my 991 C4S and my 1973 911 S (see my avatar), I do see Anna Nicole Smith and Twiggy!

Or basically, why waste a bunch of $$$ putting upgraded parts into what is effectively a photographer's special trim package that you plan to put on display and not sell.
