Don't test drive the Turbo S! At least not with your check book with you.

In my opinion, the Turbo is the best looking car out right now. It's aggressive, elegant, and exotic without drawing too much attention. I was also stuck on wanting a manual until I drove the pdk. It is truly a brilliant transmission. So I went ahead and bought a C4s with a PDK, and then got a GTI with a manual. Best of both worlds and best car decision I've made in some time. The GTI is extremely fun in a manual since its power band is pretty narrow which requires constant shifting for it to be the quickest. When I want to drive a little more timidly, it is silky smooth. Now when I want to enjoy maximum performance, I jump into the 911 with the pdk which allows me to focus on the sound track, appreciate the shifts, and focus on getting the most out of the car without worrying about how much I am really hindering the performance.

Did it have a German accent?

Putting proper winter tires on a 911 will get you through anything an AWD 911 will ... and I speak having been through Boston winters daily driving a C2 cab with Blizzaks. It was as good, if not better, than an Audi Quattro on all-seasons, with all that weight on the rear wheels. I know because I took both out in heavy snow the same day. Only issue is ground clearance.
