Update, just found this on my car. The seat belt buckle retainer over time gets mis-positioned. This is the plastic piece that keeps the seat belt buckle high up so you can grab it. You’ll need to check and slide it up towards the buckle from time to time. This is especially a problem if your car automatically puts the seat back for ease of entry.

Is the airbag cover on the seat really not replaceable on its own? And is this a common problem, or only for tall people that put the seat all the way back? The side of my seat has been dented as well, and only after 300 miles. Seems pretty easy for the buckle to get caught between the seat and the wall.

Our seat belts have a holder or retainer that we can slide up. If your conscious of this and remind your self to slide it up, then you should be okay.

My Macan has a little button pressed through the belt so the buckle cannot slide down too far, so this has been thunk through before...

Yep been there with the seatbelt buckle binding, I did it myself never noticed the retainers, until this thread, I always Make sure the belt is on when moving the seat. Just two weeks ago I was in a hurry, took the belt off then moved the seat back I heard the buckle bind and stopped. It put a small dent in the b-pillar trim, ugh!! I immediately got my heat gun out on low and kept my hand on the trim to make sure it did not get too hot, once it got very warm I took a can of spray paint and rolled it back and forth over the small dent with slight pressure. The heat and rolling over the spot with a flat roller I was able to get the dent out. The inside black plastic trim has somewhat of a compression to it. I think the heat and rolling over it allowed the dent to return to it prior condition. The day was saved, but bad design, I like the idea of a non sliding buckle retainer.
OP so sorry about issues with the tint shop, I just had a small issue at the hands of others too, it just sucks.

As others have said, this is caused by the belt buckle getting stuck between the seat and the interior panelling. I also found that a heat gun worked to smooth out the dent when this happened to me.
