Default Dark wheels on a white car: how much is too much?

Now that Costco has splurged for my wheel refinish, I am thinking of going darker than OEM silver: first, for visual effect; second, to make brake dust a smidgen less visible -- there's a limit to how often I can wash my daily driver.

Trying to choose between black and platinum. Still haven't seen Carrera Classics in those shades on a white car firsthand; found some Internet pics but of ambivalent quality. I do like the thin-spoke wheels in black as they make calipers stand out but CCs have more massive spokes and may not have the same effect. The "black hole" look on a white car is certainly not what I'm after. Platinum feels more conservative.

Would really appreciate some good pics of similar color combos...

I'd go with a titanium or anthracite finish. Black is too much, and you will get the "black hole" effect. If you really like black wheels, you can soften the look a bit with a polished lip on the wheel.

I think a titanium finishing contrasted to a white car would look terrific.

Titanium looks a shade lighter than platinum on pictures -- is that the case? Is there a hue (warmer/colder) difference too?

I agree with this.

A white car is also an open canvas for bronze or copper as well but may be a little loud for some.

On pics, anthracite looks like a completely neutral hue: just a shade of gray. Attractive. I certainly wouldn't risk bronze :-)

This whole thread is personal preference and to many bronze will be too loud. I personally love the look.

Nice pic - palettes in the background continue the red-and-bronze theme! Intentional?

IMHO Silver/Gray colors are best on a light colored car.
Good Luck!

let your refinisher show you some dark gray colors. Too dark just looks black again. Too light wont show up. I agree since you are paying to have them redone, you might as well make an improvement

Bronze looks good on a white car. Nice change from the usual wheel colors.

Love the color of bronze/copper on white cars. I bought a custom set of velos wheels for my c63s Mercedes that are Monaco copper with a clear gloss. They arrived Monday and I sold the Mercedes a few weeks ago. Love the Porsche but should have waited a bit. I cracked the box to look at them. I'm kicking myself for not keeping the merc for a few months to enjoy the wheels first.
