Sid V -

Great job with your project. Opinions regarding smokers package installation have been all over the map, and no doubt what you tackled will help others in the future. Thanks for documenting the procedure.

Thanks flickroll. For any member who has reached out to Porsche Parts and Service and got nowhere.... I’m happy to share what I found on the web after many hours of searching. I located a website that has “ALL” PET Porsche Parts and diagrams. This website is a keeper for the DIY owner and for those who want to learn more about their Porsche. It’s simple to follow. I have provided a link to start you with the location where the wiring harness is located for the smokers package. This link not only lists Porsche models, but most car manufactures, it also has the part numbers, price and description. I can relate with many of you who spend precious time making calls and reaching out to other members to seek solutions and guidance. Enjoy......

I removed the link as of this afternoon because I discovered it somehow was infected with Malware.

If wish to locate your model, select (Home) and tab to the vehicle make under that specific brand icon.

If you need help just let me know.

Hey Sid-V7,
Awesome write-up and photos! Could I coax you into posting the part numbers for the harness and ashtray parts?

Z00mie here are the item part numbers that will fit a 991.

Wiring Harness Part Number:
991-612-757-01

Ashtray / Matt-Black/Hi-Gloss Chrome:
991-553-141-02-DML

Ashtray Comes with opening lid and insert/tray (this includes lighter and LED light). Fits the following models:
- All Carrera models 2012.5-2016 (including 4, S, GTS, Turbo, Targa, & GT3)
- All Cayman models 2013-2016
-All Boxster models 2013-2016

Shop around to get the best price. You can try Sunsetporscheparts. I found Suncoast doesn’t use part numbers online; they use SKU#.

If you have questions keep me posted.

Pete - that's a great idea! I have an idea of how it can be done. I may try this when I get my "T" with the tray.

It's one of the coolest tributes of all the anniversary editions... for any manufacturer.

Thanks again SV7.
So, I did this! It took about 2+ hours (and $265) as I stumbled through the process. Mentally, prepare yourself to fully remove the center console for this project though (wiring harness is attached via numerous plastic push-in plugs on the bottom of the console). It isn't hard, nor does it really take any special tools (other than torx). It's just numerous layers deep. I hated that darned hole in the console...

I don't understand why someone would not want the smoking package. You get an additional power outlet plus a hidden cubby. Why doesn't Porsche just make it standard?

The only cars ordered without the smoking package are the ones ordered by people who didn't realize they should have ordered it and are now kicking themselves.

This one is seriously a no-brainer and has nothing to do with actually smoking.

Wild Weasel(former F-4G guy maybe?), I think Porsche usually comes up with some pretty neat alternative designs (rear seat delete for example). I suspect lots of folks thought, "I don't smoke so don't need It", never really considering the aesthetic or possibly the functionality of the extra power port. I didn't order my car or there would be a number of things added or changed. I guess that's what I get for buying "off the rack"!

sounds like it should be a strategically placed oil leak that drips onto the exhaust - kind of like a 944 turbo.
