Default 14 vs. 18 way seats

I am in the process of ordering a 2018 911. I drove the 14 way seats and after a while found the side bolsters digging into my shoulders. Do the 18 way seats with adjustable bolsters provide more shoulder room. I would appreciate a response from anyone that experienced a similar situation and tried both types of seats.

I find they do exactly that for my body shape. But you really need to try them. Personally, I didn't like the shape of the 14 ways around shoulder blade height, while the 18 ways were perfect there.

Spend time in both seats! No one can answer this truly except yourself. I would ask the dealer to go on a longer drive to experience both seats. You owe it to yourself. I love the 18way but unfortunately they do not fit my bigger bottom. Hence I had 14 on previous and current order.

I like my 14 way better in most of cases except going on a track. Like others mentioned, you need to try them to tell which is your preference.

Both are snug. 14 had two pressure points around shoulders for me... maybe like you describe, digging in. 18 has wings that hunch your shoulders forward a bit if have wide shoulders. Helps to have seat much more upright than you may prefer. Will get used to it though not "comfortable" pre se.
Like many things with this car... you make it work. She's worth it.

Yes, but to give you an idea I am a 44 long size.
18 ways were way too restrictive. Love my 14 way!

Ditto. I am a 44L also and 14s are fine for me. Found the 18s too restrictive at the shoulder.

Endless discussions on this... 225 pounds, 6'3" and 44L 32" waist. Love my 18 ways.

At the end of the day - you are going to have to sit in each for a drive to see which you like better. Until you do this the question will never get answered for you.

The seat shapes are entirely different and hold your body very differently. Said it before, you sit 'on' the 14ways and 'in' the 18 ways. The shoulder areas will feel different because they are designed to hit you in different place. It's not as simple as skinny folks fit this one and wide folks fit this one. One or the other isn't better for wide folks than the other, because they are simply different designs. I'm pretty thin and the 14 ways press on my inside shoulder blades. Not because I don't fit them, because that's where they are designed to fit everyone. I've owned both, liked both, preferred one though. Everyone just needs to sit in them both for a while before they decide. No right or wrong answer.

I had shoulder problems with standard seats in a Cayman, two Boxsters, a 991.1 and a shoulder replacement before realizing the 18 way seats cured all the problems. They are worth the extra cost! Besides being more comfortable, they are more supportive, and IMHO they look better. Like they belong.
I have had 18ways on a reluctantcy gone 997.2 C4S and on my present Boxster Spyder. The only way to go!

I'm probably too cheap to spend the extra for the adaptive sport seats if I was ordering a car, but when I bought my '13 in October I was really glad it has them. Most comfortable seats I've ever had.
