Default Turbo vs TurboS

I am about to buy a new 991.2 as my daily driver.
I am torn between the turbo and turboS.
In the real world (I won't track the car) and on a day to day basis will I notice any difference in performance?

I've not driven the Turbo, only the Turbo S... But I truly expect the answer is no.

The price points are so close, I expect most folks just pony up the extra to have the badge and the few upgrade which may be unique. (Owning a Turbo S, you will never regret not buying a "lesser" model... Not owning it, you may regret not spending a little extra for the S)

I would pick the Turbo S again without question, I love it.

Both great cars, good luck in your decision making.

The difference is academic in daily driving. The benefit of the Turbo S is that it is loaded with all the goodies. Consider whether you want the carbon ceramic brakes or not (Standard on S). They work great, but when replacement time comes they are quite expensive (rotors). Depending upon what options you want to have, may be better to go with the Turbo S. And of course, there is always the cool factor of having a Turbo S, as opposed to the every day, run of the mill, garden variety Turbo (grin).

I'll add that the 991.2 Turbo is the equivalent, if not faster than, my 2011 Turbo S. And the 991.2 Turbo S is a monster. I recently drove the new Turbo at the Porsche Driving School at Barber, and you would NEVER be disappointed by the Turbo.

I've come from a 991.1 Turbo to my just landed 991.2 Turbo S.
In my case it's an evolution - natural progression of my 911 experiences.
No bad choice between these two. As others have said, mostly depends on what options are important to you.
IMHO on the street either one is a monster and will reward you equally.. and very nicely.

Can't go wrong with either. I went with the Turbo, as I felt it was sufficient for my purpose; the price differential wasn't worth it to me for the few add on's -- ceramic brakes (the Turbo has plenty large brakes), and I like the wheels that are standard on the Turbo. As I recall, Car and Driver tested both and got the identical 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds. The Turbo comes well optioned -- big upgrade from the CS. Boils down to how much you are willing to spend. Both are fantastic. There is no bad decision -- if you are unsure, get the S, no regrets then.

If money isn't an issue, go with the S.

Because at the end of the day, no one needs a Turbo or Turbo S. It all comes down to want. And if you can afford it, then satisfy your wants.

Turbo is 98 percent of the car.

Turbo S is still better, of course. If you want it, definitely get it.

I picked Turbo because I was too impatient to order a car and it came up in good spec.

Drove a friend's Turbo S and could not tell the difference with regular Turbo and that finalised my decision.

I didn't want the ceramic brake,
so i got a 991.2 turbo with 30k options...

Objectively, the performance difference is going to be minimal in real world situations.

0-60 times are identical. TT runs 1/4 mile in the 10s. Power curve is identical between the cars up to 5500 RPM. I can't imagine many people are going up to 5500 RPM all that often in these cars.

I didn't want PCCB, PDCC, 18 ways or Center-locks. I wanted deviated stitch and certain design choices and HRE wheels that would have cost the same, regardless of model. So the delta, for me, would have been ~$30k. I couldn't justify it for just the incremental performance increase. If you want those options, then the TTS makes perfect sense.

Of course the TTS does have the greater performance envelope, at the end of the day. If it will nag you not to have an S then you know your answer.

For me - I couldn't be happier in my TT and I have zero regrets. I can confidently say that you would love either car. You really can't go wrong here.

I've owned my .2 TT for 2 weeks. 300 miles and haven't really pushed it super hard. The thing is an absolute beast. The power is just phenomenal. The difference between a TT and Carrera is night and day. I LOVE this car.

FWIW - most "regular" people literally can't tell a Cayman from a 911 Turbo. One guy asked if I painted my car (previously a GT4).

Can't go wrong with either one. I had the same thought process when I bought my TTS in 15. I think the 991.2 cars are even closer and the TT has added some options as standard. The PCCB when and if they need replacing, I heard they can last 100k miles, you can always replace them with steel rotors. I liked the CL wheels, and like someone already said you will never say, I should have got "just" the TT. Either one has more capability than you can use as a DD. Good luck...nice problem to have though.

I was open to a TT or a TTS when I was shopping. I wanted PCCBs, centerlock wheels, and the high level of options generally found on TTS cars. You won't notice any difference in everyday driving. Either choice will be excellent.

That is a joke right ?

Who on earth would buy the most useable accelerative car on the planet and not wring it out at every opportunity, with 0-100mph in 6s you can have playtime blasting up to that and back again without anyone noticing !

We'll see how it goes the longer I own it. I could be wrong. I don't drive to 100mph on public roads. Just driving around town, the thing is a rocket below 5500. Can't imagine blasting past 5500 on a regular basis and not losing my license.
