Looking for info on 991.1 TTS
I'm looking for a 991.1 Turbo S. I have a few questions about the car prior to purchasing. Any help would be appreciated. I'm coming from the GTR and AMG world and I don't know much about Porsches.
I wrestled with the decision of GT3 Vs. Turbo S. I'm 90% sure I'll be going with the turbo. I can't turn down the awd, hp, and easy power gains of the TTS
1. Are there any major changes or differences between the 14-16 991.1 Turbo S? I have seen much better deals on the 14's but I want to make sure there are no major changes or upgrades.
2. Is it possible to CPO a car purchased from a private party or non Porsche dealership?
3. The options I want are Premium Package Plus and full glass sunroof. Anything after that is a bonus. Anything option I should look for aside from those two?
4. Is there anything I should look at when I find a car I'm interested in? Any typical issues or areas of concern with these cars? Any recalls or major service I need to look at?

To your point #2. Only used vehicles can be CPO'd and only by an authorized Porsche dealership, a big advantage for dealers. Of course if the vehicle was purchased by a private owner before you and was already CPO'd, the balance of the warranty will transfer to you.
I wait for others to chime in on your other questions. I will mention that the front axle lift option is valuable for some people who will regularly negotiate steep drive ways etc.

Opinions on what options you should get are like orifices: every one has several. With a Turbo S you will get most of the options that are argued about wether you want them or not and you might get 'down-grades' from the S because it was ordered that way. For example:
- 5-lug instead of center-lock
- multi-function steering wheel instead of sport design wheel
- 14-way seats instead of 18-way
Burmester is an option that a lot of TTSs seem to come with.
No front axle lift on 991.1s (except GT3) it's not available until 991.2.

As far as I know there are no changes in the 991.1 Turbo/S range, not even trivial changes. '17 with the 991.2 has many material changes.

- Definitely Center Locks
- Definitely Sport Design Steering Wheel
- Burmester, yes for your home ;-) - (10:50 Nick Murray)
- Definitely 18-way seats - (9:50 Nick Murray)

I wouldn't hesitate with a 14. If you can get CPO a 16 would be better if close on price as you get 2 more years of warranty. Love my 14. I actually like not having the sunroof. I got mine CPO with 150 miles on it - its loaded, but had no sunroof. Was an ordered car.

Just bought a CPO 14 TT with 10k miles and 169k sticker for 118k. I've been told from friends who owns a dealership and or are high up. I keep for 2 years and will sell with one year CPO left. Then Jump into a 17. Turbo S is amazing but to me coming from a 14 C2S a TT is more then enough and has everything I would want.

I was coming off of a built '01 Turbo and first test drove a '16 GT3...I decided I had to stick with a Turbo.
I bought a non-CPO '14 TTS with 14k miles and 190k sticker for $112k, 5+ months ago. I had to pay to ship it ($1200) but it is a near perfect/pristine, no-stories, 1-owner car. White/red interior.
IMO, the 991.1 is one of the best bangs for the buck in the supercar world. Unless you're overly picky, the differences between .1 and .2 are so negligible, you won't feel like you're missing anything. Some just have to have to buy newer but IMO, there are no "deal breaker" changes the .2 offers. The only thing I've noticed that I really like better on the .2 are the tail lights. Not worth the extra coin for me.
Deals have to be out there, potentially more so soon (with COVID 19).
