Heres another thread with another buyer who questions his life's choices too much, again. So I am very close to pulling the trigger on a TTS...but...I keep getting this nagging feeling it isn't a 200-230K car. Reliability, low key, backseats, comfort, but what else?

I love the car, but 230K? I guess I'm trying to say, I feel as though they're overpriced by at least 60K. So why did you all buy it? With so many options out there in the same price range, what one feature drove you to purchase a TTS new?

Regarding reliability, there are very few (if any) cars in the 200-225k price range that are as generally reliable as the TTS. Perhaps the R8, but things like the Huracan, 570S, California T, etc. do not have the proven track record that the Porsche does (and, perhaps more importantly, the dealership network).

As to why some feel that it is overpriced, I think it's due in large part to the fact that it looks nearly identical to its little brother, the 911 Carrera.

But in terms of performance and usability, even at a highly specc'd 230K, I think it's actually a bargain.

There are nicely opted 2015s w/low miles you could get for $155K, ie 1200 mi's on Trader. I found a 15 w/2200 miles well loaded, and certified thru 2021. Lots of options out there if you are value hunting. Good luck !

my TTS came out to 232k. And I'm up to 10k in aftermarket spend. 100% in my mind its worth every penny.

$230k? Drop some of the bling. I paid $200k (out the door) with custom installed radar/laser and Expel on front half including taxes with enough options for comfort. You get all the good stuff (i.e. "go fast stuff") standard on the TTS. I like the stealth vs attention. Nobody has any clue that you are driving a car as capable as this car is. So, for me it was performance capabilities (and I do not track) combined with the stealth. I could never drive a Lambo or Ferrari. Even the Porsche makes me a little uncomfortable. Over-priced in an absolute sense? Yes. In a relative sense - not in my opinion, unless (and that is a big unless!) you want to attract attention.

First of all the depreciation on these cars isn't terrible as a percentage compared with other brands. You're looking at 25% depreciation over the first 2 years.

That said, the Audi R8 V10+ will probably retain its value better.

However, this is THE car. It doesn't get better than this at this price point. It is the budget Veyron.

If you're looking for value you're in the wrong place. You know the PAG margins. And frankly, spending even half as much on a car is unnecessary.

You get this and you're still here though, so you see looking for value is kind of missing the point. I bought it because it's what I wanted, it's a good fit for our current family needs, and for me owning a 911 turbo is a bucket list item. And while I know I will lose a bundle over time, I expect to enjoy the car far more than whatever other thing we'd do with the money.

Depends on the region. Porsche has restrained allocations this time around. For a custom order on a 991.2 TT/TTS, 0-3% seems to be the current norm.

For a model in stock you can do better, but I don't know exactly how much, maybe 5-7% instead of 0-3. Probably better to order and only pay for what you want. Not needing to wait is a benefit though.

There are probably a few outliers across the country that did better than this for whatever reason. Hopefully you get to be one of them!

You guys are all right. It's a beautiful car and fully worth the value when new. I think the problem is I expect a more exotic look at 230K, and I'm not getting with the Turbo S. Traded in my GTS because it wasn't quite doing it for me in terms of performance. I found the car to be a poor daily driver despite what some GTS owners say. The turbo S on the other hand was absolutely perfect. But now that I'm really close to pulling the trigger I keep looking at the McLaren 650 S. I know I can get the same performance but it's just so absurdly gorgeous.

of course I hear the quality of the Mclarens are atrocious.

McLaren is an exotic. TTS is not. Performance is similar, but these are very different types of cars.

Get one. You can add or trade it for a TTS later after you've experienced it. Or not if it's the perfect car for you. I hear they're great. 👍
