just to ask for my Porsche specialist friends if the 911 RSR midengine car is a prelude of the end of the rear engine cars

lol. I was thinking the same thing. The motor keeps moving forward on 911, maybe the next gen will be mid motor. Maybe Porsche just wants make the 911 mid motor before the Corvette does it....HA.

My persoanl take, and I think others here might agree, this is not a mass-production 'prototype' but rather its only a limited production racing car. Its purpose in life is get Porsche back on equal ground with Ford/Ferrari in the LeMans endurance style of racing, for the class it will run in. The C8 will be very interesting. However, time will tell all. My money is on the '992' being a rear engined hybrid.

It's going to be hard (impossible?) to make the street 911 a true mid-engine design if they want to retain the back seats for insurance purposes.
