Wink My 991 TTS Champion Turbo Upgrade Thread -- RedGutz Gets 68mm VTG Upgraded Turbos

My car is currently at Champion Motorsports getting her upgraded 68mm VTG turbos. These are stock housing turbos and my understanding is they are similar if not identical to the ones Sam's customers are getting.

Once the installation is complete, the car will receive an updated GIAC tune with pump and race gas files.

Unfortunately, Champion's dyno was broken when my car came in so I do not have a before dyno. Grrrrr. I will receive after dynos and will post them when I receive them. I do not expect to be able to take this car to the dragstrip until next spring as by the time I get it back it will be too cold to get drag times if the strips in New Jersey are even open then.

In terms of power this will NOT be a record breaking or event car. No meth. No PDK upgrade. No nitrous. I am a rally driver first so the car must be reliable so I my instructions to Champion are not to tune the car to the brink or anywhere close to the PDK limit. I just wanted more power especially on the top end where the stock turbos run out of power.

Car should be good for 660-670 wheel HP on race gas. Or so I hope. We will see when she gets on the dyno and is tuned.

Here are the pictures that Champion has taken of the project so far. Note that we had to drop the engine to replace both turbo oil lines because these metallic lines has corroded (those damn NY winters).

Thanks your clients have had some really good success with those upgraded 68s including my friend Parker up here in New York Who did a 1200 mile rally with them with me with no incidents or issues

Well we'll see what she feels like once I get her back. By the time I get her back I'll probably be throwing winter tires on her and then will be taking it easy

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have to ask.
I'm contemplating between a new TT and TTS. To my knowledge, the only difference (engine related) between a TT and TTS is the bigger turbo on the TTS, correct? If so, I'd rather upgrade the turbos like this. Thoughts?

I am not sure of the exact engine difference between the 2017 turbo and Turbo S. I know that the turbo S has slightly bigger turbos I believe on the compressor wheel side.

The 991.2 TTS has bigger turbos, and completely new ECU and higher pressure fuel injection system. and to date nobody has cracked the code to tune it!!

How much did this set you back, if you don't mind me asking?
Kline headers+these turbos+a nice exhaust would unleash the the beast in a 991.2 TT/TTS, right?!

Not sure re final price. Call Tom at Champion Motorsports for that.

There is no tuning available yet for a 991.2 TT/TTS as I understand they are still working on breaking into the ECU. My own belief as to the most effective power mods on the 991.1 TT/TTS are:

Tune
Intercoolers
High flow cats/catless exhaust
Turbos
Meth

It's a tough one, but our tuner and COBB are both working on making it happen. It is going to be a bruiser haha. Just exhaust and a tune has seen some silly gains on the 991.1 Turbo S in the low end/mid range. Top end is much more responsive with the addition of IPD plenum package and larger intercoolers.

Very interested as there's no awd dyno around here so I never got to run my stg IV but we should be very close..
Also are you running 19" rear wheels ? Sidewall looks tall

Good luck
