As amazing as the Kline systems have been with rave reviews, I always appreciate the hard work those gentlemen put in so that I can continue to push the spectrum wider and wider to meet everyone's needs. It's been quite nice and I think it's amazing that everyone shares true hands on experience with the community. We have learned so much and push the envelope of performance to record shattering levels and I can only think my entire team for that! Kline has played an integral part so anyone who wants to do themselves or their vehicle justice do your homework. Knowledge is power! We have a lot to share with the utmost confidence and guarantee. This way everyone can make their own choice.

Glad to be a part of the community and have the chance to work with so many great people. Always here with enthusiasm whether it's a simple question or a huge challenge!

Cheers

He's one of those vendors who's everything you read and MORE. I'd like to personally commend Fabspeed for stepping up here and chiming in also. I have dealt with Fabspeed in the past as well and had nothing but excellent service and received very high quality products. I have been a very big participant in many forums and seriously almost left Rennlist because of the bs being posted by this individual. Good riddance and here's to some useful sharing.
Been trying to visualize a "he came in like a wrecking ball" meme with Bob and Speed21 but can't put it together. Either way, very proud of how we all came together as a community to rid the negativity from this forum.

I very much appreciate the kind words, we put a lot of hard work and passion into our products. It was time consuming enough to defend his shenanigans against Fabspeed, but I'm definitely not going to watch him drag another company's great name and reputation through the dirt. Sam and Felix are excellent guys and deserve better than that, as do we all. My only hope is that he gets booted off 6speedspeed as well, it is obvious he goes by Dixie on that forum. Glad to see you stuck it out and are still here with us

In the interest in moving off the topic at hand...how are you liking the 488 so far? Comparison to the 991 Turbo?

Wow a lot can happen in one night! Let me say that I've received so many private messages, emails and texts in the last weeks asking me what the deal is with "this guy".

I know I've been away from this forum for a bit. But I've been a part of the community for 20 years and the actual start up for 6 Speed and Rennlist with the founding fathers. That type of attitude is not what it's about so I commend everyone for coming together and the moderators especially for keeping the community the way it was intended to be. There's no need for anyone to beat up on each other specially in an unfounded and such aggressive mannor. It insults too many members and sponsors. Special thanks to all the boys at Fabspeed for being great friends and being so professional/courteous to the community. Perfect example of the mutual respect as human beings and colleagues.

Sorry for the novice question, what exactly are "cat" and "catless exhausts. Pros and cons please.

CATLESS-Catalytic converters:

Pros: better sound---better performance

Cons: without a tune a good chance you will get a CEL (check engine light)

Will not pass an emissions test.

Most likely illegal.

More exhaust fumes. More prevalent if you have a cabriolet.

CATS:

Pretty much the opposite of the aforementioned.

This refers to whether or not the exhaust has or doesn't have a catalytic converter. The catalytic converter can reduce flow and sound which is why some people prefer a cat less exhaust. On the other hand it is necessary for meeting emissions requirements. There are also studies that say unfiltered exhaust gases can harm the development of children. This is why states require use of a catalytic converter and you can't pass an emissions test without one.

There are three types of exhaust you can buy:
1) Catback Exhaust (replaces mufflers and pipes but keeps factory catalytic converter). This type typically is the safest from warranty perspective and maintains OEM emission standards. These exhausts so improve sound versus an OEM exhaust however compared with the other types it has least performance or sound benefit.
2) High flow cat exhaust. In addition to above also replaces the catalytic converter with a high flow catalytic converter. These are typically also compliant with emissions standards. These exhausts enable you to use a Stage 2 tune and provide better sound than a Catback Exhaust.
3) Catless exhaust. These exhausts eliminate the cats entirely and are not compliant with most state emission standards. Many vendors advertise these as "for off road use". However if you want maximum performance and tunability with the best sound this is what you buy.

I use type 2.

Those explanations pretty much cover it. There are some really high flow 100cel catalytic converter's that do a great job keeping things clean while still allowing for great performance and sound. Some exhaust systems actually allow you to swap them out in case you want to be a little more competitive in a race or a track situation then you just put the cats back on.

Excellent and detailed.

I also use #2

If you want to see Sambo's fire breathing beast, you'll need to go catless!

As I was headed home one day, powering through the gears with my Sharkwerks-equipped 991TT, it struck me that the sound was familiar and yet I couldn't quite place it. When I got home, I happened to tune the TV to the F1 qualifying at the Austin GP. There! That's almost the same sound as my car! Sure enough, the current F1 engine spec calls for a 6 cylinder turbocharged engine!

Here is a sound clip of Catted vs Catless of our Supersport X-Pipe System combined with our Performance Package

Once the car is driven for a bit, you can really get the exhaust to have some excellent burble. My personal favorite is catless, the overrun is just intoxicating haha.

Catted Supersport X-Pipe

Catless Supersport X-Pipe

I have deleted a number of Speed's post which were blatant promotion of EP and/or denigration of other good systems. This is supposed to be a forum for sharing technical information and not a forum to systematically promote any one vendors product. If you have a Brand X product and like it say so, If you don't like it, say so in either case preferably why. That's not the same as hundreds (maybe more) of posts by one person promoting one product.

Wow, just saw this. I thought it was suddenly civil around here, can't say I'm surprised, he does it to himself. A tiger can't change his stripes. If he's on 6 spd again, where he was also banned, it's only a matter of time.....

Based on quality:

1. Europipe
2. Tubi
3. GMG

Sound is very subjective. I went with the Europipe because it had a fuller sound compared to the Tubi (Tubi was a little bit too high pitched). GMG droned a little during cruising speed.

I think the Akra slip-on is pretty good.
