GMG Racing: Porsche 991.1 WC-Turbo S Convertible

What does GMG-founder James Sofronas choose to drive when the sun is shining and the Pacific Coast Highway beckons seductively? He puts the top down, and speeds off in this pure white 991.1 WC-Turbo S.

Built in-house, the WC-Turbo S package is comprised of numerous hand-picked alterations meant to further enhance the 991 Turbo S’s character. Using our comprehensive knowledge of the chassis, we tailored the car’s driving characteristics to be very exciting should someone feel the desire to be creative (while still remaining very street-friendly). The car’s power output has jumped, thanks in part to a GIAC tune. The exhaust’s throat has been opened with a GMG stainless exhaust. Lastly, the cars handling and looks have been further refined due to GMG lowering springs and wheels.

Handling: GMG Lowering Springs, GMG 21” LMS wheels, GMG-Signature alignment

To help the new rubber stick in the twisty corners along the PCH we added our GMG lowering springs. These lowered the car by 28mm, without any sacrifice to drivability.

GMG LMS 21” Centerlocking Forged Monoblock Wheels

The GMG LMS wheel is a sleek looking design that was specifically made to perfectly suite late model Porsches. The curvature of the spokes is an homage to the curved rear air intake found on the 991 Turbo and GT3RS models. The spokes are thin and scalloped which belies their actual strength. Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) computer simulation software, the LMS design was tested to analyze its fortitude under a simulated load to optimize strength and stiffness while cutting back any unneeded weight. These wheels are made right here in Southern California using the highest quality US-made aluminum forgings. The finish of each set of wheels can be customized to your preference.

GIAC Porsche 991 Turbo Software Upgrade

The GIAC engine software for 991 Turbo S applications is OBDII port flashed and packs a punch with peak gains measured at 30 - 40 rwhp and 30 -50 ft/lb torque. Drivability is designed to be smooth at idle and even partial load, but offer a big punch at full load. Software features include added boost, changes to air/fuel ratio, and higher torque limits. GIAC was the first tuner to offer 991 Turbo software as an OBDII port flash, its work remains the benchmark within the industry. Since its release we have performed numerous GIAC 991.1 Turbo tunes at our facility.

GIAC is finishing touches on a new tune for the new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S models. If you interested please shoot me a PM and I will send you more information.

GMG 991.1 Turbo exhaust system

The GMG Porsche 991 Turbo exhaust system increases overall performance, enhances the sound, and reduces weight. Fabricated out of T304 Stainless steel and meticulously TIG welded with great precision, the system is %20 lighter than the factory system. The system introduces an unmistakably aggressive exhaust note the car so desperately needs.

The system is uninhibited by poor quality catalytic converters (found all-too-often on aftermarket systems), we use only the best German-made 200-cel OBDII-compliant units. Unlike generic fiberglass mufflers, our mufflers feature stainless steel packing to withstand the high exhaust temperatures associated with Porsche's turbos. It is these subtleties and so many others that add up to make our system so popular with those who want the most from their Turbo.

This car is so enjoyable to drive that James chose to recently take the 991.1 WC on the Goldrush Rally.

I came in this morning and found the wc-Turbo-S parked right next to my office in the shop. Not a bad view.
