Off-topic, but in what series do you race GT4 CS? Do you keep it in Canada?
Thanks for the info on 991.1 turbo! Im thinking it might be my next daily driver at some point when prices just right.

I race my clubby in the PCA trophy east.
I leave it with BGB in Daytona and they crew the car for me at each race.

I live in the mountains of B.C, so it is a little more travel time for me to get to the races. But it is only 6 events a year so it works out for my schedule

It is a fantastic series!

Excellence Magazine article - 12/13 issue (pp 62) interview w/August Achleitner, director of 911 product line - stated that the 991 thicker piston crowns compared to the 997 Turbo were changed in the 991 Turbo to withstand "greater combustion pressure" w/no change in in the 9.8:1 compression ratio.

Additionally goes on to say the '14 Turbo S motor is mechanically unchanged from the base Turbo, relying purely on an ECU software remap for its extra power & torque.
Agree. It's a 40HP ECU bump, and the rest is almost an options package...Ceramic brakes, Sport Chrono, PASM, all standard, plus some minor bells/whistles. Oh, and 40HP.

Agree retaining the warranty on a car like this is not to be understated. The S is ridiculously fast as it is.... exhaust is all that is really needed imo.

Also, tuning the stock Turbo won't fix the lower red-line of the transmission's different ecu shift points.

I'm sure raising the limiter is do-able but what do you do about reprogramming the PDK's ecu? No point raising the red if the box won't match up....which is basically what I meant to begin with.

The differences between the 2 is hardly news but here's another extract from http://gtspirit.com/2013/08/24/road-...turbo-turbo-s/
After a few laps in which we continue to gain the confidence required to brake later and carry more speed through the corners, we pull into the pits to change into the Turbo S. Besides the ceramic brakes, the Turbo S also packs 40 hp more over the Turbo we were driving. The acceleration becomes more brutal, making the gap with any Turbo behind us bigger after every straight. The ceramic brakes grip equally brutal allowing for even later braking and faster lap times.
