Porsche 991 Turbo S by Edo Competition – Fastest Porsche ever around the Sachsenring
From the article:
The main idea behind the Porsche 991 Turbo S was to make it the quickest Porsche ever around the Sachsenring track in Germany and the tuner’s car dubbed “Blackburn” did just that. With a time of 1 minute and 30.15 seconds, it’s now the quickest Porsche ever to complete a lap of the 2.3-mile circuit located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal. For the sake of comparison, the previous Porsche record belonged to the 918 Spyder which completed the lap in 1 minute and 30.34 seconds. Ok, so the difference between the two is minor, but it’s enough to put the 911 on top.

Scary fast driving in awesome car
Thanks for posting the article, it's amazing these tuners "equalized" the turbo S to 918 level.
To gain a sense of Marc's driving capability & this car's performance, watch his Nurburgring video with Edo's car. He takes a bit of time to warm up the tires, then his skills with this car is unbelievable!
Any car he comes across is almost blown off the track. After watching this video with volume turned up, you also gain appreciation of R-spec tires.

I'm not sure I understand this: "...edo/KW Competition thread chassis" Anyone able to elaborate on that? I'm thinking that perhaps the word "suspension" may have gotten criss crossed in translation, but honestly not sure.

Here's the data sheet on it. Mostly just monster engine tuning, springs, wheels/tires...and a hell of a lot of talent and *****!

Karl, did you make it up to VIR this month? Curious what kind of lap times you are running. I'm still plotting to go up to 265/325 Cup2, but turning 2:04s with stock 245/305 Cup2. Plenty more time to cut still.

Most of the lap time gains of this EDO 991Turbo come from the choice of driver (professional vs Magazine test driver) and the suspension, not the engine modifications. This car rated at 669PS has modified turbochargers, the stock VTGs are limited to ~620-630HP (MAHA type, Euro HP). The KW suspension used for the lap record is a track only suspension and practically undrivable on the street.
See an interesting article comparing performance between this EDO, a Techart 620HP and two stock 991 Turbos.. Techart outperforms the EDO everywhere. EDO do not do their own programming, it is outsourced to another German tuning house.
