As long as you don't need to store a lot of stuff, it's very easy to use as a DD. Very meek until it isn't, even the "base" TT. Great car if you don't miss a third pedal like I do.

Put 36,000 miles on the a 2013 C4S, very comfortable around town or on long-distance. Just a couple of thousand miles on a new TT, but other than the power it is very similar.

I, too, live in Chicagoland. I take my TTS on long trips all the time. I even drove it down to Birmingham to participate in the Porsche Sport Driving School.

It's a very comfortable long range cruiser. It's my year-round daily-driven only car, and I have no regrets, even given the price (including a second set of wheels with snow tires).

The TTS makes for a great daily driver. Slap on winter tires and it is an ace in the snow. Suspension is comfy and exhaust noise is quiet if yon stick with stock exhaust (way too quiet for me). There is, however, a lot of road noise. The ride is very firm but great for a sports car at this performance level.

How much of that noise do you think is due to the P-Zero tires? Those who have been able to switch to Michelin Pilot Super Sports (rear sizes have been on back order for months), did the noise level go down?

I have ran both of those tires. Both are noisy. There is not a lot of sound insulation for road noise IMHO. Exhaust is quiet as stock. That is one of the main reasons I now have the Tubi catless race exhaust

I've run both as well and I would say both are noisy on the road but the Pirellis noticeably more so than the Michelins.

To the OP's question, I do 2.5 hour each way round trips inside a day on a fairly regular basis and I find my 991TT more comfortable for that than the BMW E39 M5 I was doing the same journey in previously...guess the 18-way luxo-sofa-seats fit me pretty well.

Disappointingly not, although 991 is noticeably better than 997 there. I don't get why Porsche haven't moved away from those cheap hard plastic inner guard liners on the 991 when the Cayenne and Macan use soft coated liners which deal with the road noise much better. It's not as if the soft coated liners would be any heavier. You can only hope they introduce those in the gen 2 cars, as they still have some ways to go to fix that road noise problem.

That kind of presupposes that road noise is an issue of course. To me it's fine as it is actually -- yes, even with the Pirellis I kind of like all the noises the car makes driving along; I don't know how to say it but it makes the car feel a bit more alive to me in a sense.

+991. I like the noise. When I don't, I crank the Burmester.

I accept we are all different but I personally would much prefer less road noise intrusion, that way my ears can enjoy more of the vehicles mechanical sounds.

Well to be fair, the F10 M5 seat beats it all to hell, the only thing better in my experience is the Cayenne Turbo S 18 way seat which is cushier than the 991tts seat.

Somewhat on topic, has anyone ever added insulation in the wheel wells? I agree there is too much road noise for car that costs $150+k. Even a layer of dynamat would probably help back there. Someone try it please

I recall a few of the 997 guys did a full internal dynamat fit out but never touched the wheel wells as that area requires a proper mold. I really wish Porsche would do it for the 911. For a car of this value it is way overdue! The other benefit of the soft inners is that you don't get the noise of the stones chipping away at the insides of the guards when you are flying over fresh blacktop....can be quite un-nerving.
