Complimentary technology update
I got an email apparently from Porsche this morning that invites me to take my 991TT into the dealer for some free upgrades. The note provides the analogy of updating your phone software but mentions that physical inspections and hardware upgrades may be required.
There's no mention of what the upgrades might be in detail.
Anyone else get this kind of note?? Anyone already know what the upgrades amount to in practice?? I'm assuming we're talking software changes and perhaps very minor changes to physical things (hmm, wind deflectors to fix the high speed windows down in cabin buffet would be nice and might be cheap and easy for them to do ).
I'm on vacation right now or I'd call my service guy and find out more...will get to do that next week. Actually I was planning to anyway since the car is reminding me that it wants to go in for 20k service (I'm ~200 miles short and still loving every mile ).

I never get updates from Porsche on these things. I feel like Charlie Brown on Halloween!
You prolly need campaigns WE89 and WF27. WE89 is replacement of a front AWD control unit. And WF27 is just a PCM update r/t the satellite radio. I just had these done. Took about an hour total. Car is driveable, so no big deal. I believe the module issue is that it can show as having gone bad (check engine light) when it is perfectly fine. Not sure what the PCM update is about, as I never listen to satellite radio.
There have been previous campaigns as well, but months earlier than these, so assuming you are up to date, the two I mentioned are probably the only ones you need.

Seems like these updates are dealer driven. Regardless of who issued the update it's going to cost money in man hours or parts. Wonder if the dealer can charge back to PCNA, if so don't know why all the dealer's don't do this?

My car goes in next week while I'm driving the school vehicles down at PSDS
According to my service adviser, there are three updates:
1) PCM software;
2) some air inlet duct clamp tightening required; and
3) A complete replacement for the all wheel drive controller hardware box.
