GT3RS wing on Turbo S?
 

Have a 2016 TTS coming shortly. I much prefer the GT3RS wing over the stock one. So, will it fit and if so, what's involved and what happens to the original wing?

I don't have experience with fitting a GT3RS wing, but I shared the feeling of wanting a different wing. I ended up with a TechArt rear wing, which my dealer installed after getting it painted to match my car.

There's a reason the RS has that wing. It's more track focused and creates more downforce. This is coupled with front splitter downforce to balance the car out at speed. Putting an RS wing on your turbo will look out of place in my opinion. It's your car and you can do what ever you want, but you will be laughed at by anyone who knows Porsches (if you care). You don't want that wing on the street though...or maybe you do...teenage "racer" boys will snap photos.

The way the current rear wing adjusts with speed/sunroof opening works very well on balance and downforce. Don't screw it up.

The engineers at Porsche optimized the front to rear downforce for the GT3RS after a lot of testing. The compromise was reached on the angle of the rear spoiler between lower and higher speed downforce. Don't mess with the TT's spoilers unless you just want fanboys taking photos of your car, because it is likely that modifications are not as carefully designed, manufactured or engineered as factory pieces and will compromise performance on the track or at speed. This is just my opinion, but I agree that anyone who knows Porsches will see such a modification as frivolous. To me not unlike those who own GT3 or RS versions who drive them on sunny weekends to meets and never put them on a track that they were designed for. Porsche's are made to be driven!

Let me agree with the 2 posts above. Perfect from a technical standpoint. Anyone who knows a little bit about the difference between a TTS and a GT3 RS would be reminded of Caitlyn Jenner if they see a TTS with a GT3 RS wing in the back - there is something there that should not really be there. My opinion of course. Good luck to OP on whatever choice you decide.

I think they're both hot, and while I realize that the Turbo S wing is tuned for the Turbo, I love that look and since I won't be driving the TTS on a track or anywhere the wing would make a difference, I'd make that conversion.

991RS wing on a bone stock 991 Turbo S would looked like a hacked car IMO.

If you are just going to drive it on the street, even more reason to not go 991 RS wing.

I'm going to take the other side of most people here. I'll say, if that's what you like, then go for it. I don't think that it'll look weird or out of place. Infact, it'll look exactly like a GT3RS without the front fender vents, which might actually make it look like it has cleaner lines. I wouldn't be that worried about the aero balance either unless you are going 150mph+. The interchangebility of the 911 line has ALWAYS been part of the fun and allure of the cars. Tea Tray turbo tails on 911 SC's were routine in the 80's and 90's. They didn't look bad, nobody complained that there was going to be too much downforce in the rear. It allows you to show your individuality. Oh and people said the same thing about the 997 GT2RS, but this guy at the 'ring didn't seem to have any problems and personally, I thought it looked spectacular! So buck the purist who think that if you paint the wheels, that it'll handle differently and enjoy it how YOU'd like to.

i would take the fenders from the RS over the wings....
