Default 991 turbo exhaust. Shooting flames and backfire?

Im probably going to purchase a 991 Turbo S. I always change the exhaust on the Porsches ive owned because i like them louder.

Ive been looking at different options and by the look/sound of it the 991 turbo makes a hell of alot more noise than the 997 turbo. The backfire pops and flamespitting is crazy if you buy a exhaust witn no or less muffler.

I found this Fabspeed catless exhaust, and holy****. Is this normal for the 991 turbo? sounds like gunfire.

Here is another example. The cops might show up thinking there´s a shootout! Is this normal on the 991 turbo?

This an FVD exhaust with headers. No fires spitting that can be seen but it sounds damn good IMO.

Yes, that is a normal to an extent. You can coax it into backfiring more often by feathering the gas ever so lightly on deceleration. I did all the driving for the video of our first 991 Turbo and I can say with 100% certainty that the pops and burbles were the b est part of the exhaust! Just the right amount. Not too insane with the Fabspeed, but just enough to put a huge grin on your face.

Our full 3" X-Pipe exhaust (with no mufflers) for the 991TT and 991TT"S" has a little burble on decel, but nothing over the top or obnoxious. The sound level is louder than OEM, but again nothing crazy. We feel it is a tasteful upgrade for the car. The 991TT actually has a much quieter motor than the 997TT and we concluded that with mufflers, it was too quiet and too similar to OEM and not a significant enough sound upgrade for the majority of customers. Our 3.0 X-Pipe is engineered to provide a pleasant, refined sport sound with no drone. Below are a few videos of it in action...

Thank you for answering. In the vid i posted above with the Fabspeed, the bangs and flames, is it because that particular one is catless?

Im kinda childish, so i really like the flames

That's nothing to worry about. My FGT running over 850 WHP routinely spools out 4-5 ft. flames on decel.

OP, I'm a big fan of Fabspeed's exhaust; the one you posted in your first video. But as much as I love it I'm terrified of getting gunned down by a policeman or have my car toed away for such sound. Add to that I'm worried it'd embarrass me on public roads and get tired of it.

I keep watching the video over and over, but keep telling myself it's insane for me.

I checked plenty of videos on YouTube, nothing impressed me except Fabspeed's. But again, no exhaust sound can be judged right in a video.

Good luck

The Fabspeed must be a catless system. I have no mufflers with just a pipe going from the turbos to tips, but with sport cats with a 200 cell count. That doesn't produce gunfire noises or daytime flames, but it's certainly louder and pops and bangs nicely on lift off in Sport mode. No CEL with 200 cell cats, which a catless system will light unless it is software edited off.

Interesting dangerous driving in the video entitled Arab Porsche at 0:46 where the pedestrian narrowly avoids being hit by the car, as she is on the pedestrian crossing with right of way. Moron.
