New Turbo S Cabriolet
Hello everyone,
I thought I would share my new purchase with you. For the past year I have been lucky enough to own a 2013 991 S Cab with a manual transmission (and years ago a manual 996 S Cab). As much fun as I have had with that car, I felt it was time to make a change. Some of you may have read the thread where I described my dilemma of choosing between a Targa GTS or my dream car...the Turbo S. It was always a question of whether or not I could not only live with PDK but enjoy PDK. If I could enjoy it then the Turbo would win hands down.
After quite a bit of consideration (although not giving the PDK a decent test drive) I ended up finding a Targa GTS allocation and thought I was content with that decision. But, whenever I was online or in the dealerships I would always end up spending way too much time looking at the Turbos. Last week I was in LA and had the opportunity to visit a couple of dealerships and also take a few test drives with the PDK. It was an eye opening experience to say the least. I came away with an entirely new respect for Porsche's automatic. While I'll always have a soft spot for a manually driven sports car (and will most definitely own another one in the future) I knew it was time to move on at least with this car. It happened to be the dealership I was working with had this car in stock. It's exactly how I would have built it so I pulled the trigger. To date the only mods are the tinted windows. (Please forgive the pics. I plan on giving her a proper wash soon and will update the portfolio then.)

Totally jealous. I've been thinking of moving to that color scheme.
What color was the interior of you last cab? I'm curious to know if the red interior is cooler in the sun than black.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I honestly haven't had enough time in it to determine if the red seats are cooler than black. It does have the ventilated/cooled seats though which I love so far. My first cab had a yachting blue interior and the most recent had standard black.
I went back and forth over staying with a cab or switching to coupe. In the end it was a short trip over the grapevine that my wife and I recently took that was the deciding factor. It was dusk and a bit chilly. We put the top down, heater and seat heaters on and had a great time. I do think the coupes look better, even more so in the turbo than standard carerra, but we enjoy the open air too much not to get a cab.
I am in absolute astonishment at the speed and muscle and pretty much everything about this car! It is above and beyond anything I had expected. I only have 600 miles on it and there is no way I will be able to follow the Porsche suggestion of staying under 4200 RPMs for the first 2000 miles. How can anyone do that? For the first 300 I did a good job of staying under that, but at 500 I just couldn't take it anymore and let it loose. Yesterday evening I took it out and found myself on a nice straight deserted country road and I just could not help myself so I.....LAUNCHED IT! Holy crap! That is worth the price of admission right there! Just unreal acceleration.

Awesome! I only wanted a Cab when I went shopping. I think even with top up it looks better than the coupe, but to each his own. I'm amazed how well the wind screen works too. Barely notice any wind within the car even at highway cruising.

I should clarify, when I said I think the coupe is the better looking car I meant when the tops are up. When a cabs top is down it is, IMO, the best looking 911 by far. I love the line from front to back when the top is down. I guess that's why I've chosen it three times! I do think the new Targas look amazing too.

Evan,
So cool that I researched a long time to make sure Porsche wasn't coming out with one sometime in 2016! That would be the ultimate for me. They are definitely thinking about a turbo Targa though (at the Targas release they played a promo video and you can see, just for a second, a targa with the air intakes like the turbo), but I think they held off when they made the decision to put turbos in everything because of the emissions.
By the way, I love your guys exhausts! I've been through all the you tube videos and you guys nailed it. Exactly how I want my car to sound. I will probably have one of your systems installed in the next 6 months. Who would you recommend to do the install in the L.A. area?

Nicely done.... kinda partial to Cabs myself! My first turbo and happy with the choice, though after 2 black cars in a row... I went white for a change-up.
As hard as it may be to believe, it will get better as you log more miles.
