Only Pirelli I will ever put on a car again are Trofeos... I just got a 650S in UK and will be replacing the really terrible P zeros with Trofeos... then again if I could, I would use anything other than Pirelli as 3 of the last 6 cars I have had, used various P tires and I had issues with all of them

I should add that I have new R888 Toyos on my 996 TTS and they have issues as well... I really dunno what tire pressures to use

Cold 30/33 ends up 33.5/37 in even cold weather at 35F.. they seem to warm up and expand really quickly and they throw off every little rock, pebble, monicum of dirt everywhere... and they are as noisy as a bat on LSD during a daylight raid

I would not have a TTS as a daily driver.
OP does not say where he lives, this makes abig difference.
Remeber TTS is all wheel drive vs GT3, this makes abig difference is wet traction.
I live in Atlanta. TTS is just a play car. Got a different DD.

I had put Michelin PSS (as well Pirelli Corsa and Bridgestone RE11) on my GT3 and loved them the best of all 3.

Will definitely replace the TT's stock Pirelli's with Michelin PSS once they expire.

I had the MPSS on my M5 and they are definitely good tires. I don't know how to compare between them on the M5 and Pzeros on the 991tts since the cars ride so differently anyway. I have the tire insurance and I picked up a nail the first week I owned the car so I got a new Pzero on the right rear at 3k miles since that is what the car had when I bought it. I will no doubt try the PSS as the replacement set when I get them.

I just replaced the pzeros with michelin pss. I drive mostly on the road and the michelin feels better. I also bought the tools to change the tires myself, which was quite rewarding.

When you say "tools"' do you mean a tire balancing machine and one of those machines that pulls the tire off the bead? Wow.

I have floor jacks, a torque wrench, sleeved sockets and an impact wrench. And I felt pretty good about it. But wow.

I meant center lock torque wrench, jack, jack stands, and wheel guide. I had WheelWorks replace the tires on wheels. They did a horrible job and damaged the wheel barrel attempting to remove the sticker balance weights.

Ah. OK, now it makes sense.

Decision may be easier for future tire selection.

How many kilometers do you expect Peter? Mine were worn down to 1/2 from one afternoon of tracking. Think I'll try to go the season with what I have. I've been thinking also of changing to the PSS

Expect I'll need new tires later this summer or early fall. Mine were starting to show wear as well.
If you'd like a contact for great tire pricing, let me know.

Last week I replaced the stock PZeros with Michelin PSS on my 991TT. Major upgrade, as reported by others.

Dramatic improvement in turn-in responsiveness. Lateral traction feels less squirrelly (than the PZeros) as tire pressure builds with heat. Significant reduction in tire noise over less-than-smooth road surfaces at all speeds. These tires are a delight.

It is an accomplishment for Michelin to have a tire that is both crisper and more responsive (implying that the side walls have less flex?) at the same time that ride comfort and noise all improve (implying that the side walls are more compliant?). Something interesting is going on with the MPSS construction that is more subtle than my simplistic side wall comments.

My only issue with the swap from PZeros to MPSS is that I should have done it day-one of 991TT ownership.

Terry

I know I'm late to the party. I had PS2 and switched to MPSS. The ride is so much better with the MPSS, their not as bumpy and you feel like you have better control.

How many miles are people seeing on their PZeros before they need replacement?
