Just to be clear (no pun intended) -- you did this on top of a clear bra? Or, directly on the paint? I'm still sorting myself over all these complexities for the arrive of my car in Nov.

Yes, Fred! Clear bra was first. The detail guy we use said Opticoat should last about 5 years and the "nano technology" sealants we hear about are every 2 years or sometimes less. I cannot speak to the accuracy of that, but I can attest to just how great the shine is. Looks wet!

Color and shine look great. Opticoat makes cleaning the finish and especially the wheels relatively easy. Had it applied after Expel Ultimate.

OptiCoat is great.

Makes the car shine even with a layer of dust.

Had it applied in mid-July on delivery by Unique Car Care. Rick does excellent work.

Yes, you can.

Depending on which detailer you speak to, some will say apply OptiCoat under the Xpel, some say on the Xpel. Not sure there's a wrong or right way to go about it.

But it can be put over Xpel. No problem.

It's should be applied over Xpel, never under. I own a shop that is an authorized Opti-Coat Pro installer in the Boston Area. Optimum just changed their formulas. They discontinued Opti-coat for consumers and replaced it with Opti-Gloss Coat which so far seems to be a superior product. They still do offer Opti-Coat Pro with a 5 year warranty on cars up to 5 years old. Both products are great and definitely keeps your car cleaner between washes.

I should add that Opti coat on the Turbo S wheels makes cleaning a breeze with a high pressure rinse. I should also add that I have used a few applications of Ultima Paint Guard Plus over the Opticoat and it definitely enhances the shine, which on Rhodium Silver is not easy. Takes about 15-20 minutes at most for an application. Gone are the days of buffing out older style polishes that did not have the optical properties of Ultima. Can also use Ultima on the tires.

How long does it last? Most car washes use pretty strong chemicals to get brake dust off. Does the opticoat withstand that?

I don't have brake dust, but I imagine that with Opticoat brake dust would wash off easily. Don't know how long it will last. I've had it less than three months and it looks the same. Do not use caustic wheel cleaning solutions with Opticoat.
