Default adding warranty

Hello all, I am considering buying a car that is still under basic warranty. Can a Porsche warranty be added if I do this prior to the expiration of basic? This is a private party sale, so I don't have the dealer to ask, although I would imagine eventually the dealer would be involved if I want to add this.

I have searched here and can't find the answer.

Thank you for your help

I have no personal experience doing this. However, I have read of such things here on RL. IIRC, you will need to sell the car to your dealer then buy it back with the CPO added. Cost varies between $2-4k. Again, this is only my recollection. Good luck.
