No more Turbo S?

A good friend picked up his turbo s from champion porsche yesterday. They told him that all turbo S allocations are spoken for and that there will not be anymore turbo S models till 2020. Any truth to this?

Gleek48 05-04-2014 11:26 AM

A salesman at my dealer indicated yesterday that the Turbo S run is not guaranteed for the future. Personally, I find that hard to believe as it has to be a high margin car plus the fact that they sell more S' than standard Turbos.

Snorman 05-04-2014 11:42 AM

That seems strange, but you would think Champion would be well-informed.

I was planing on flipping my 13 c2s for a turbo s, but I wanted to see the type of aerokit porsche is going to offer. But if they are not going to produce anymore turbo s models for that long I should just get one soon.

MMH78 05-04-2014 01:07 PM

This is hard to believe. This may be another trick to sell more turbo S by creating a panic in the market. I am not aware of this in Porsche's history.

ajag 05-04-2014 01:09 PM

Sounds ludicrous. They're not going to leave money on the table if the car is selling well.

I have a '15 TTS order at status V200

jlee504 05-04-2014 01:42 PM

that is a pretty crazy rumor. plenty of people here have 2015 allocations so I unless its 2016 and on..i wouldn't believe it

but the flip side is I hope it true, would help improve resale!

If you want a TTS I would be very surprised if you could not order one or buy one from inventory. I ordered a 2015 TTS in mid-April for June 27 build and August delivery. Agree with ajag that with current strong demand, why would PAG not build more high margin cars? My WAG is that the next body style Turbo S will be a hybrid with close to 918 performance and a probably much higher price than current TTS's. Maybe if we are lucky the 991 TT and TTS will move into hallowed Porsche model territory in a few years.

That isn't true. I got an allocation for a '15 TTS cab a couple of weeks ago.

Heard exactly the same thing. The rationale makes sense: vw is making too much money and wants to reduce it's taxable income. Thus, only one model and colour will be offered post 2015:

Hey Jamie, how goes it?
Are you digging the tts cab?

Hey dude! It's a lowly TT cab. Perfectly acceptable daily driver. Burmeister sounds ok. Launch control is way more fun than it should be.

Hope you're well!

Owing to the soon to be scarcity of this model, my TTS is available for $300,000.:D

tcsracing1 05-05-2014 01:13 AM

With the carrera face lift being a 2016 model, Id say the face lift turbo will follow as a 2017 model with the S available at the same time.

Now, if they do not offer a face lifted turbo in 991 series, then everybody will have to wait for the 2018 911 to debut which could be anything in the hands of volkswagon....
