991 turbo...ecu remap

Does anybody know is it just a different ecu in the turbo s..if so theoretically with a remap (invalidating warranty) same power output could be achieved in the non s...
Thoughts please

You might get a better response on the turbo forums.

Hi there,
GIAC hasn't come out with a 'chip' yet but most of us are waiting... I just got the 991 turbo S and it can even be boosted easily but we just have to wait... don't you hate patience! Now where are the inside stainless mesh for the front too@!

As a general rule all turbo'd engines have quite a bit of 'extra' power available by simply revising controls to allow increased overpressure. Manufacturers use settings that accomplish their goals of marketing and reliability. For owners less concerned with longevity the sky's the limit.

Actually GIAC does have a tune for the S. Producing approx. 60hp+ on software alone. The non S is due out in approx. 30-45 days. Estimating similar gains. Based on the fact that the tunes are coming out at different times, I would assume that the ECUs are different in some way. I don't however know this-no engineer here-just a driver. :)
