Looking at getting a 991.2 Turbo and was wondering how much power it is able to hold reliability before I need to upgrade the block.

If you are talking about just the engine overall, the rods are the weak part that give out around a certain torque number. That being said I think some people are running well at ~900awhp with just limiting the torque. The DCT clutches are another failure point when getting up there, and same thing, it is more torque and how you limit that.

This is always a very controversial topic, and the definition of reliability is highly variable. Do you mean 25K, 50K, 75K, or 100K+ mile reliability? The OEM power output was determined by engineering tests for the latter.

Power is relative over the curve and torque is the "enemy" of your components along with heat. A passing pull or two at 800 is probably fine, race applications tend to do better with appropriately build systems end to end accounting for those stress factors

Is it that high? It's about 500 whp for the Mezger motors on the 996/997TT.

There are alot of 9 sec 991s with basic bolt ons and a tune.
