I chose the milder version, which was right for me.
Cool yeah ill look it up, need to see if thats enough for stage 2

I imagine you cant have a flame tune if you keep any cats whatsoever

Can't answer that. Flames aren't my thing, and I have no current plans to do any engine tuning. As far as I'm concerned, OEM power is more than plenty enough.

If I had a 991.1 Turbo S, the mods I would pursue in order are: tune, DO88 Big Pack, upgraded diverter valves, Cat elimination straight pipes, Meth and 68mm turbos (or Stage 5 turbos for a little extra money). Parts I view as not critical are a different exhaust system, air intake or plenum.

Congrats on the car, I recently purchased my 2014 TTS and also came from the RS3 world. I drove my car for about two weeks before I pulled the trigger on a tune. Coming from fast RS3's the TTS feels pretty slow stock but the tune brought it close to a stage 2 e85 rs3 for power and the drivability of the car is night and day compared to the rs3. My path for bolt ons is do88 hoses, ipd y pipe, ipd plenum, agency power intercoolers, and bmc air filter. I like the more quiet stealth approach so for now I am leaving the exhaust alone. I will have the bolt ons on this week and will have the tune revised to complement them. I test each phase with dragy to see what does what. Stock it was 10.96 @ 127mph, with tune it was 10.76 @ 131. I am hoping for a few more mph with the bolt ons and revised tune. I am also having a track tune added that will be safe for a couple road course events I do each year. I will probably do hybrid turbos at some point and free the exhaust up in the quietest way possible while achieving good flow at that point. I look forward to reading what you end up doing to yours!

I have a 2015 991.1 Turbo S cabriolet.
The first thing I did was exhaust and BMC air filter. It sounded so much better.
Then I did a Dyno-tune.
Bang for the Buck the best mod is a tune.
For extra sound you can do exhaust, I did 3" x-pipe and 100 cel cats, sounds much better.
Also a BMC air filter is inexpensive and will get you a little more intake sound.

I’m shocked I’m the first one to suggest clear side markers?? Is this forum starting to slip?

There are so many mods that you can do, the list is almost endless. I drove my 991.1 TTS in stock form for a while. My first mod was clear side markers. After that, I realized that I wanted a better exhaust note and I wanted different wheels. As I continued on my journey, I started to focus on cosmetic mods. I did some leather upgrades on the inside, and some carbon fiber upgrades on the outside. I eventually had a moderate tune installed, and it’s great. My most recent mods were the puddle light upgrade that shines the PORSCHE script on the ground when the door is opened, custom leather floor mats, and an Apple CarPlay adapter. I’ve added an Escort radar system with a custom mirror display. The list seems to keep going and going…

These cars are fun to modify, but they’re also fantastic in stock form.

Good advice to drive the car for a while before starting to make changes. Know what you have so you know better what you want to improve.

Also working with someone in the know like Sam you will never go wrong. If you are looking to set land speed records then even more important.

I wanted to improve/mod some very specific things. Here is what I did and why.

Exhaust - these cars are beasts but sound a bit like kittens. I wanted a raspier growl but no drone and livable in my community so no lawn cross burings take place. I have a Europipe stage 1 exhaust 100 cell cats. Very mellow in normal, angry in sport and pissed off in sport plus. No drone, very F1 sounding which is what I think a Porsche should sound like not muscle car growl like some but this is personal taste. EP quality in my opinion is top of the list. Kline iconel also a great exhaust, had on me on a previous car.

Tune - I have a Cobb Stage 2 custom tune I did with Sam, sending data logs back and forth and fine tuning till it’s perfect for me. I’m in Florida and Sam in Ca yet this process was flawless and the results amazing. I chose Cobb because it’s also can change your PDK maps for quicker more aggressive shifting at higher rpm’s. I run between Sport or Aggressive for the PDK tune. And with Cobb I can run PDK Relearn occasionally to reset the system. It’s like a dental cleaning for your PDK.

DSC V3 sport controller - these cars are very quick and grounded so subtle mods are just fine tuning of already good settings. I run the DSC at GT3 settings which just makes it more response in sporty driving.

The internal are strong and can take modest to aggressively modest mods without a problem. Be religious about regular maintenance and oil changes and you will be rewarded by good car behavior. Going on 10 years of pretty flawless ownership for me. Even with modest mods and tunes there is very little that can challenge these cars on the street or track with the level of reliability.

Lastly once out of warranty find yourself a knowledgeable and trustworthy Indy shop if you have one nearby so the Porsche dealer tax isn’t an issue.

Good luck it’s a fun journey.

I am thinking of stage 2, what downpipe do you recommend while staying cost effective? Do 911 smell a lot when catless? I remember my audi rs3 u wouldnt smell anything when coming to a stop but my bmw m5 stinked. If it doesnt smell that bad please recommend catless otherwise catted.
Also which tune should i pick? I like pop and bags and flame tune. Also, its reliable with a tune? anyone has had issues?

Otherwise whats efficient? I see theres intake, plenum etc, im down to put something but only if its rlly worth it. I would consider an intake if its a very good sound upgrade even if it doesnt ad power.
Thanks
No such thing as cost efficient mods IMO

Exhaust +/- race cat or catless with drone pipes
Tune
Plenum
Y Pipe
Billet intake manifold
VTGs
Meth Boost kit
Wavetrac
Dodson
Bore & Sleeved Engine
Garretts, TTE or Bydesign Turbos
Syvecs
Air to water charge Intercoolers

Each mod is worth it if you want it bad enough. Depends on what level of power or usability are you aiming at.

LOL, I suspect most 991.1 TS cars up for sale have already done that. It's the first thing I did when I bought mine last year, and I think mine was one of the few left with orange side markers.

I agree, for actual seat-of-the-pants cost effectiveness, a plug-and-play setup like the JB4 or a custom tune will provide the most felt bang for the buck.

Why think straight no cats?

At least do 100 Cell cats.

Sam is the person to go to. Happy Motoring.

Congrats. I got my TTS recently as well. I don't think it's wise to make bunch of changes at the beginning, in terms of performances and exhaust. Of course unless you are dead set to make the car louder and faster.
I haven't even driven my car 100 miles yet. But I have been very busy changing some cosmetics such as Moshammer diffuser, GT3 side skirts, puddle light, radar hard wire, phone mount, basic maintenance and so on. Painting side skirts and diffuser myself was a huge task and I am still dealing with that 2 weeks in. Maybe that was a mistake. I didn't do it myself to save the money but I was interested to find out how difficult auto paint job is. I figured if I messed it up, I could always take them to the body shop to get them repainted. Anyway, the first thing I thought of BEFORE I got the car was the exhaust but I'm waiting to learn more about the car. The cabin noise was quite surprisingly loud enough for me and I actually don't want it louder. But the sound can def be improved. Down the road, I think I will get a after market exhaust but that's not until I run several spirited driving.
Good luck!
