Burmester audio

Race Car
The Burmester in my car at cruise on the highway, and even around town, is definitely a nice system and when it is adjusted correctly, it drowns out road noise and is very clear, all while not turned up too loud.
Others have said the same as you have, that it is nothing special, but I personally have found it to be a very nice system, much better than the Bose in my Audi.
Chance6, it's funny, I bought the car and have yet to play with the settings to any great degree..
It's sounded great from day one.
I'll have to try adjusting it a bit with some of the settings you use.

Well I am glad its not just me, and disappointed that to many the opinion is its just OK. CDs do seem to be the best sound but how many still carry a pile of them around? Music stored on my Iphone through Blue Tooth or cord is not as good but better than radio or streaming Pandora. Next I am going to try to load some high quality audio on the jukebox, back to the manual.

Burm is much better than Bose as far as clarity and a crisper sound, a true upgrade......just like PCCBs, I would always have a Burmester system now that I have experienced it......aftermarket solution would be a waste of $$ for minimal upgrade.......

But to compare the Burmester upgrade to a PCCB upgrade? No way. Of the selection criteria I'd use for picking another pre-owned Turbo, Burmester option would not be in the top ten, or even the top twenty.
It would perhaps rank above 'Power Steering Plus' and 'Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell'.

Really? PCCB's really are awesome, and I am a complete convert after owning them.

FAL was a good option, despite still wrecking the front lip spoiler...

As was the rear wiper.

Several owners I know with 991 turbos have recently had $6,000+ repairs to their active front spoilers... Perhaps a solution far worse than the problem?
Fixed front aero lip (lets say replaceable for under $500) and a fixed rear wing would be kind of perfect for me (and I'm a 'no' on the rear wiper!)

I thought the active aero and retractable front spoiler was a really cool feature, also owning a 996 Turbo that I manage to smash the aero lip on about every year or so... But the 996 aero lip is ~$100 to replace.

After owning Bose in two other 991's, I decided the Burm was a *must have* in my next car.. Well, lets just say it still sucks. Better than the Bose, but loud garbage. How can anyone keep their bass anything above -1 is beyond me. Maybe a select few tracks I can bump it to +1. These speakers absolutely rattle everything including themselves. Sometimes it sounds like the speaker material is going to tear. I run the bass anywhere from -3 to -5.
It's certainly picky when it comes to source. I've found that USB connected to phone produce very bad audio. XM is a step up. Bluetooth the same as XM or maybe a hair better. CD for sure will be the best bet.
Does anyone have certain/confirmed info on whether or not an SD card will play HQ music? I still have slight faith.

I have Burmester in both my Turbo S Cayenne and my TT. The Burm is noticeably better in the Cayenne with its larger cabin, and I absolutely love it in that car. It is also far superior to the Bose that was in my C4 GTS.
Since I have an upgraded exhaust on the TT, I rarely even turn the Burm on because the car is so inherently loud and I like motor music. Long trips are the exception and I listen to music on the highway, when parked, it is also nice to have great tunes.
That said, source is critical for the Burmester system to function well and setting the system to taste is important. I'm in the minority here in that I'm quite satisfied with the system and have no interest in upgrading it.
