Advice needed, considering this 2015 Porsche TT for purchase

I've had the car PPI'd and everything looks good, price looks reasonable, Im thinking about pulling the trigger. Anything I need to consider? Thanks in advance, all opinions welcome!

Looks fine. Reasonable mileage for the year. Love 5-lug wheels. Carfax looks clean. 2nd owner only had it for 6 month or so?

Yes, I noticed that in the Carfax too. I really wish the car was closer to AZ to allow my own inspection.

Nah. Pass. It looks too much like mine. :p

Agate Rulz...

Yeah - If you like the color and options - buy it.. It looks great. You've had it PPI'd, so what more do you want to look at?

NoMorZR1 01-14-2020 11:09 AM

Agate is a great color. Summer temps where I live in AZ can be >120' so black exterior / interior not an option ! Needs 2 rear tires, rotors & pads, engine hatch struts and it'll be just like new.

I approve. It has steel rotors, so no need to worry about any track miles on the PCCB. Headlights and fog lamps don't look overly pitted - another telltale sign of heavy track work. Looks well maintained and CPO inspection does not mean much, but it's something. Price is correct, and the car is a beauty! Go ahead.

LOL. So true. No idea why Porsche can’t find a gass-filled-strut supplier that can make them a strut that will last for more than three years 3-sigma. I keep a set of 928 hood and hatch struts “in stock.”

On that subject, after you buy the car, buy a (small) box of black wheel weights and dole-out a portion to the guy that mounts your new rear tires. Else you will have silver weights on black wheel barrels.

Rotors and pads...that's some real money there! Get a quote on that. (Porsche recommends new rotors with every pad swap, but I don't change rotors unless there are cracks from the drill holes that touch each other or go all the way to the inner or outer edges.)

$2900 for pads and rotors, $875 for 2 tires, $80 for the hatch struts and we're good to go ! Appreciate everyone's input.

And I take it the dealer threw that in for you...?

I'm puzzled how the rotors were shot after 30xxx miles.

NoMorZR1 01-14-2020 09:11 PM

Correct. To be done on their dime. Good question about early rotor wear. Does seem a bit premature.

At 30k-miles I would expect the rotors to be worn to below Porsche's spec from mostly non-highway driving. But, Porsche's spec is typically extremely conservative. "Track guys" will wear rotors until they don't pass tech (cracks as per ---^ above) and that's - again, in my experience - roughly twice the wear of Porsche's spec.

Indeed, especially premature - I just swapped out the original rotors on my 12k lb tow rig and I got 265,000kms out of them...

Good that the dealer is stepping up. Love the color.
