CEL Suggestions with Kline Exhaust
First off, Sam has been great to deal with. He just can’t figure out why I have a CEL. As soon as I put on the exhaust on my new 991.2 turbo s with less than 500mi back in the summer of ‘18 it popped up with P0420 and P0430 relating to the cats. Sam suggested a COBB tuning but that hasn’t helped. Unfortunately I’m 5hrs away from any big city/dealership so that’s one of the main reasons why I’ve been living with the CEL and constantly resetting. It will come back on within 2-3miles of normal driving, sometimes less.
just wondering/hoping somebody may have run into a solution?

do you have lambda extenders? did Cobb do a lambda off tune? have you contacted sam, or cobb? they will both take care of you im sure.
if you cant get to the bottom of it, we have developed a OBD plug that prevents lambda error codes you might like to try.
you can contact me at christian@kline-innovation.com

Interested to hear more about the OBD plug just in case. Can you PM me with some info on it?

0420 and 0430 are cat inefficiency codes - I get them occasionally with 100DPI cats on my 996; basically, the catalysts are not hot enough to make a measurable difference in reading between the first and second O2 sensor.
If I were to hazard a guess, they are popping up under light load, throttle tip in, which in turn dumps a little extra fuel into the system, and of course, when the cats are colder they are not as efficient, thus the code.
Mechanically, you can correct this problem by spacing the downstream O2s with a washer, lifting them within the bung ever so slightly - this fools the ECU into thinking there is enough of a 'change' between the upstream/downstream 02s, and fixes the problem.
Electronically, Sam should be able to see on the logs when this is occurring and tune it out.
Alternatively, give it an Italian Tune Up every time you get in it, build up some heat - you should be good to go.

Hi gentlemen. There could be a few reasons for it but if you don’t mind send me an email just to refresh me where we left off. If we do an off-road file for racing with a racing exhaust in place the light won’t come on but the codes will still be there that’s just the nature of it. Don’t remember if that was the case or if the light is actually on? There are also sensor extenders that can mechanically deal with this. Cheers
