2019 Turbo S - Standing 1/2 Mile Report
Hi everyone,
I’m down in the US and it is HOT lol. Humid and hot to make it worse. It’s about 95+ degrees and the track temps are much worse.
That said - I am VERY impressed with Porsche and the Turbo S.
It it has been pretty consistent - although today was worse than yesterday - running 159 MPH on average - with my best runs from each day being the first ones I do - 160 and just over 162 (162 was Day one). You will see that it says 159.9 and 172.x - and as much as I would like to take credit for the 172 - the one challenge to their system is the Time Keeper radios the people manning the computers and communication issues can arise (it was clarified later).
Tomorrow may actually be relatively cool - so I am hoping for my best MPH then. It’s raining right now - so I hope it brings in the cool air. Car is super consistent - it really is an amazing machine!
Cheers!

Very impressive. I bet with just a tune (Bms or cobb) on race gas you will be near 170

If if the rain lets up I will go back this evening - it’s stating about 85-90 F. Tomorrow is supposed to be much bette - 80ish F. I’m interested to see what it does.
I definitely agree it is not 580 HP lol. I was out MPHing cars with a ton more HP than me.
Amazing machine!

Thanks T - I will tell you that I DID feel power fall off in the top end. I felt the car weaken - so some of your data points seem to be accurate. It is crazy hot - maybe it’s normal - but I have never felt that before. Each and every run. First runs were best - and the fall off was just at the finish line. The hotter it got - the further back I felt it. 1/4 felt fine.

Not available and we are close to hot lapping. It’s raining now - so it looks like we will not get a chance to run. Hanging around to see.
If not - tomorrow morning.:.

Thanks Swole! It was rained out this evening - but tomorrow is looking to be the best of what we’ve gotten. Going to make sure my traction control is off this time for my first run lol... at is coolest and it makes the best passes. Hoping for less power fall off at the end of the 1/2.
I shall post the results here...

There were two - I will try to get a pic tomorrow...he ran 155 and 158 if memory serves. They are using roots blowers and they are super susceptible to the heat. Plus when are done our runs we are roasting on the tarmac so the cars can’t cool down. Pretty brutal conditions.

The 570S out traps the Turbo S by about 5-8 MPH depending on the cars. They would likely be in the low mid 160’s on average. The 720S is in the 170’s. Bone stock.

Nice. Was the 165.66 the gps verified time? I bet you could do 175 with a tune, racegas, and meth injection.
