How spoiled and Lucky we all are.
So today I went out in my daily driver. It is a BMW 650 grand coupe. It has 443 hp and 479 lbs foot of torque mated to a ZF 8 speed transmission. By most standards this would be considered a relatively fast car although I know it is heavy. I had some space on an open road and I floored it. It felt like it took five seconds for it to downshift. When I did it felt fairly strong but nothing compared to our TTS. The upshifts were so lazy that you would almost think there was something wrong with the car’s transmission. I know this transmission is considered a very good transmission that is used by many car companies including BMW.
Our cars are just in another league.
I am not even going to mention the handling as the car feels very heavy most of the time.

Agreed. My F90 has a more aggressive ZF calibration, but the DCT is another world. Especially comparing Launch Control in both. We are spoiled !

I have an F10M5CP currently tuned to about 730hp and although it is very fast, the 991.2TTs will walk away from it, most of the time.

I have a 2018 M4 Competition and it's a lot of fun. I actually like the driving position and the cockpit-type feel of the interior more than my 911. I really feel connected to the car when I'm driving it. And the DCT transmission doesn't feel like a step down from Porsche's PDK to me. I have yet to try Launch Control, but I have never used it in my 911 turbo either. The quality of materials in the M4 interior is lower than in the 911, but it still feels like a luxury sports car. Where the comparison falls apart is the fact that the M4 is RWD whereas the 911 turbo is AWD. That makes a HUGE difference. But I've heard the upcoming M4 will be AWD.
Oh, and BMW underrates the HP on their cars maybe even more than Porsche does. My M4 is definitely putting out more than 444hp.
And one more thing, the Harmon Kardon stereo in my M4 is a billion times better than the Bose system in my 911 turbo. I'm convinced that the center channel speaker in my turbo contributes nothing to music and rattles like it's blown when listening to talk radio.

I’m visiting my daughter as I write this. The son-in-law has given me his BMW M5 to get back and forth. Compared to my 991TTS it’s big and heavy, rides nice and is VERY quiet in side while driving. But honestly I wouldn’t trade it for my TTS.

I agree! I have a 800whp 335i, 600whp M4, and a 700whp F10 M5. While my 991.1 turbo s makes 600whp it would still walk them all. Well maybe not my 335i from a roll lol.
We are spoiled for sure!

Absolute agreement!
These 991 Turbos are fantastic cars...
Can't wait to see how Porsche tops these monsters --- and we all know they will

If I ever step back into a Turbo, Burmester is the first box I check.

I aslo find that the Porsche Bose stereo is also better than BMWs.... Maybe that is due to my hearing degrading in my old age...

Agreed. We are driving cars that are so advanced that they usually don't even feel fast, until you're beside some guy in a Corvette and absolutely pants it in every sense possible. In your gorgeous cabin, with the smell of leather and comfortable seats.

The Bose system in the 991.1 sucks. The only benefit is that its near impossible to upgrade to high end aftermarket so I am prevented from blowing $6-8,000 on components I will never recoup.

You can find people on the general 991 forum that have upgraded their Bose. I have Burmester, so can't relate. I do have a saying about Bose, though.... "No highs, no lows, it must be Bose!"

Bose sucks in every car where it's installed, not just the 911. Bose was innovative and did some amazing things with acoustics back in the 1960s and 1970s. Most of their products today are mass-produced crap.

I believe the Bose can be upgraded on the 991.2 but not 991.1. There are some work arounds on the 991.1 but from what I have read they are not plug and play.
