The DSG paddle extenders attach to the OEM paddles with very strong 3M tape. Installation takes just a few minutes after cleaning the stainless steel OEM paddles with the supplied alcohol pad. The paddle extenders are molded with a cavity, which is the exact shape of the OEM paddles, so there's no guessing about where to attach them to the OEM paddles. It took me less than 5 minutes.
DSG also includes extra 3M tape in case you need to remove them, and reinstall later. I'm assuming that would be done with a hair-dryer heating up the attachment area, which should gently release the adhesive. When attached to a clean surface, the adhesive is very strong.
These extenders don't "click" because you're just using the OEM paddles. The ones that do that are all new paddles that require removal of the steering wheel, some disassembly on the back the wheel, removal of the OEM paddles, and replacement with new paddles. Per someone in this thread, those have a mechanical click that the OEM paddles do not.
Thanks - I ordered a set. My only concern is that they block part of the gauges - but they still look cool and for $100 - i am going to try them out..

Yes, they do partially block the far left and right smallest gauges, but all of the same information (fuel range, water and oil temp, oil pressure) is on the digital gauge, which is not blocked. Moreover, you can still tilt your head a bit to see them.
In all the time I've owned my car, I've rarely scanned those gauges because the digital info gauge is much better with all vital functions in one place.

True on the digital gauge! Not a huge concern. Its not like i am checking my fuel level every 5 minutes
