Didn't Fadi from Boost It Forward do an AIM build with GT2RS turbos on his 991.1 TTS?
He made great power. Haven't seen anything out of him in a long time.

Yup....He talks about it here:

If they were a bolt on , I would have gotten weak and already installed a set out of curiosity.
Nothing fits. Need GT2RS manifolds, exhaust, and possibly the oil and coolant hoses. If you could find a donor car , it might be possible.
If I ever develop a leaker , Sam’s Stage 5 turbos are a no brainer.

Exactly the problem I have on the 996 at the moment, passenger side is leaking pretty bad.
Gt2rs turbo upgrade sounds like it'll be quite spendy.

Just install 67mm turbo's. Prior owner installed full gt2rs body so added 67mm turbos, intercoolers, ohlins, girodisc, and straight pipe exhaust....

But that only increases the Compressor side.

I see 9 and 7mm increases respectively... Or am I missing something?

Gotcha. Even with the expense, may be a neat upgrade.
It is always appealing when you can graft on OEM parts for performance increases.

EXACTLY ! If the GT2RS was AWD……I definitely would have one. Same thing, plus reliability issues keeps me away from a 750S. But that platform has some awesome tech that keeps me interested.

yeah the GT2RS is not a comfy car by any means, and i would have kept my 911TT but having a very high hp R8 the turbo just didnt fit the bill anymore and was not getting driven except at the track, and honestly i'd prefer have a GT3 for that battle.

I’d buy four sets if they made 991/981/718 versions.
WRT to OE/OEM struts…
Starting in the mid 00s, the lifetime of all the struts (OE, OEM, etc.) decreased significantly. Whereas prior, you might have to replace a set after 5 years, or 20 years, or never, now it seems *all* (*) of them are designed for 3-sigma 2 years. So, very few fail before two years, but many, many more fail by 5 or 6.
In my experience.
(*) For Porsche.
I have heard similar “two year” stories from multiple sources with regard to new and rebuilt parts.

Although I really appreciate the engineering that goes into any McClaren, there have been some pretty bad stories regarding reliability - particularly electrics, however, I do recall someone lunching a tock 720s motor somehow.

I’ve seen those.

Does anyone know the internal engine differences -- if any -- between 911 Turbo, Turbo S and GT2RS (I'm thinking specifically of the 991.2 but perhaps there's a broader answer too...)?
Can one literally just bolt on a set of GT2RS Turbos (with a tune and matching components) on a 991.2 Turbo and approach that level of power with the engineered-margins Porsche gave the GT2RS?
While I'm asking like a newb, what about the trans? For the 992 Turbo S Porsche upgraded the PDK to handle the increased power the new S makes, so what internal differences are there between the 991.2 PDK in a Turbo, a Turbo S and a GT2RS?
