Default Applied License Plate Wrap to my 991TTS

In CA there's a company that apparently makes legal vinyl wrap versions of your plate, they even work with the DMV so you get a letter from them telling LEO it's ok. Since I have adaptive cruise and parking sensors, this was the best option for me. The device on the bottom of the 'plate' is a Nonda ZUS backup camera that I taped on with 3M VHB tape. I like that it's wireless, displays on my smart phone, and batteries are easily rechargeable AAs that seem to last a long time. It also has a mode to disable the mirrored view so you can use it in front to avoid unfortunate curb incidents.

Great idea for those that must have a front plate and way better than drilling holes. Can you post a link to the company that makes them?

This is awesome. Do they communicate with other states' DMV? I would love this here in NY.

What a cool idea! How long did it take to receive the letter from the DMV?

Great stuff! I will order one. A few years ago i tried to get a replica plate for one of my 914s, and the state had shut down all producers of them. Amazed that they have approved this.

The DMV actually sent the letter before I got the plate wrap. The wrap itself is pretty cool, printed on reflective vinyl so it reflects like the original.

Much better than an ugly front metal license plate!

I am slightly concerned about their statement “we highly recommend that LPW be installed only to vehicles that have original factory paint job or high quality paint. LPW will not be liable for damages to your vehicle in the event LPW is removed”

That FAQ concerned me too. Wondering what will happen if it's installed on PPF. I assume the plate wrap will stick equally well to the PPF and the film will protect the paint in the event the plate wrap has to be removed.

When I was applying it over PPF I kept removing and reapplying it and it was fine. I imagine with a heat gun removal is fine. What I should have done instead was apply like vinyl, use soapy water to create a film that I can slide the vinyl on and use to smooth out bubbles. It's literally a giant bumper sticker.

Good to know, and good advice. Thanks!

Very cool. I think you could go to any place that does vinyl wrap, scan and print. Who knows what local law enforcement would say.
