Extended warranty for 2015 TTS Cab?

Hey folks,
Finally moving up to a 991 hopefully this week! We are going to check out a 2015 911 Turbo S convertible with 16k miles and one owner (clean carfax). The dealer is offering a 5 year full coverage warranty ($100 deductible I think) on the car for $4200. The car itself has about 2-3 months left on the factory warranty which is comforting. Normally we are the type to pass on these things but I wanted to gauge everyone's feedback. Normally we have had good luck with our Porsches. We will be hopefully trading in our 2011 Turbo S convertible that has 35k on it and has been flawless. Plan to put about 3k miles on it each year (summer, weekend toy). The other nice thing is that most convertibles cannot be tracked, ruling out the idea that the car has been abused.

Thoughts? We are scheduled to head out tomorrow to look at it.
Thank you!
Brandon

I have his name come up often here and spoke to once. Apparently gets Fidelity Warranty at a discount.

Yes, he has sold countless warranties at discounted rates. Just send him your VIN# and current mileage and he will get back to you shortly but give him time since he stays busy.

Good to know! I will reach out to him via his contact info at the dealership. Is this the best way?

Looks to me the dealer is not a Porsche dealer. Otherwise, you would have asked to CPO the car, no?

The million dollar answer is "up to you." I took a Fidelity Platinum warranty on a 2012.5 because I could afford the premium and wanted some peace of mind the next six years. If I sell the car in the near future, I can offer continue coverage to the next owner or just cancel the extended warranty pro rated. There is a high chance that I'll never use the full coverage of it.

Seeach Fidelity warranty here...

his cell number is listed and that is is preferred communication method text. I got my fidelity plat from another source but got a quote from him and he was competitive (not the lowest).

Used Car

If you read this forum you will see lots of convertibles being tracked. Get a PPi done at an independent shop to include a paint meter reading. CPO means nothing (up to 3 wrecked panels). Physically look at the car before you hand the stealership a check. They lie. Since you are buying a used car I am going to guess a warranty is worth it, but I only insure for catastrophic loss. Would a 25K engine or 20K PDK unit be catastrophic for you ? I chose the 10 year 100 K warranty but sounds like you don't keep em that long so only insure for the correct period. The good thing about fidelity platinum is it is totally transferable or you can get a refund if you don't use the whole thing.

So we ended up with the car and bought the 5 year extended warranty (through the dealer). Their warranty had a lower deductible and covered even more than the Fidelity platinum. With a warranty that will cover our total time with the car, we feel very comfortable now and wont be afraid to just drive it and enjoy!

The car was in excellent shape! Just a few minor things here and there....and we are picky!
I am not too concerned with the dealer trying to pull a fast one on us, they have a great reputation and were very honest and easy to deal with.
