Default Battery protection active while park?

As the title says, I got that message when I turned on my 991.2 TTS just now. Last time I used it was xmas eve. The remote wasn't opening the door and a red light flashed on the remote, I tried ejected the manual key out of it but eventually it started working. Car started with a weird noise that you get like a battery is dead but it's started now. Any advice on what's to do? (Besides the obvious that i need to use it more often)

Invest in a battery maintainer if you're not going to be driving it for extended periods. And, yes, drive it more often

I bought one from my dealer, if I recall correctly it cost close to $300.

If you look online you will find them much cheaper. Maybe even almost half the price. And I am talking about 50% less. I think I got mine from Suncoast years ago.

Just bought the Porsche charge-o-mat pro battery maintainer and its coming tomorrow. Before I screw anything up just wanted to ask everyone how to go about it. Do I just plug it and forget it? Or do i need to check on it every few days? Are there any particular settings?

I would have your battery tested. The fact it started the car doesn’t mean it’s not toast. Just plug the battery tender in and forget about it. It’s a smart charger so it will cycle off when the battery is fully charged.

Don't they do this at the annual service? It did this last winter too when I didn't use it much then at the annual service in May they said everything is fine. Don;t recall any issues in spring and summer as I drove it more then.

How do you plug it in without not closing the door? Or do you leave the door open? (but wouldn't that drain the battery?) 1 end in the cigarette lighter and other in wall socket correct?

I have a different charger connected directly to the battery. Most with your charger close the door with the charger cord running out bottom. Seems not to be a problem.

There is a rubber gasket around the bottom.

If you use the cig option, just crack the window open and run the wire through it. I just pugged mine directly to the battery and leave the hood cracked open. I've done it both ways. Either will work.

Park up the car; go to passenger door and open; plug cigarette lighter adapter/plug into the car; plug tender into the wall; run tender cord from cigarette lighter over the front area of the passenger seat and then down and across in a mostly parallel way along the door sill back towards rear of car; shut passenger door (with window up). You may be able to push/pull the cord a few inches once the door is closed, or may not; doesn't matter. Check light on battery tender body to be sure you are in the proper car mode (not Lithium Ion or motorcycle) (if so equipped). The first green dot/light or two on the tender always take the longest in my experiences so be patient.
