Default COBB

Hi all

I've owned by 2014 991 TT since new and have kept it stock all along. I have never been tempted to modify, however I was curious in relation to those members who went for a tune.

I was looking at the COBB Stage 1 tune. I don't intend to add an exhaust, I run the car on 98 RON gas.

Has anyone gone for this? Are you happy with your decision?

Tks!

JB

I ran that set up for a couple of weeks before i had my exhaust and headers installed. I would definitely recommend it. Get the Cobb tune plus PDK tune. It really wakes the car up and the power difference is really noticeable. I ran Stage 1 plus PDK sport. Perfect. Call Sam

Scott here from Fabspeed Motorsport, COBB is the way to go with the Turbo models. Simple plug and play process, you can use the COBB device to scan codes, monitor shift points, boost levels, etc. Major gains across the board and just in case you are concerned with warranty, check out the Magnuson Moss Act;

In 1975, the United States government passed a law called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which states that any modifications that do not, or cannot, cause damage to the car will not void the factory warranty. The Magnuson Moss act was created to protect USA consumers and give them a right and power so that manufacturers cannot deny warranty coverage. The only way warranty coverage can be denied is when a part or procedure specifically caused a failure or warranty claim. For example, if you installed a high performance exhaust system on your Ferrari or a set of custom wheels and your radio stopped working, then Ferrari can not void warranty coverage of the radio because of the modifications you made. Conversely, if you installed a supercharger or a nitrous oxide system on your Ferrari and you destroy a critical engine component, then logically Ferrari could and would void the engine warranty, but the other parts of the vehicle would still be fully covered by the original warranty.
Fabspeed Motorsports exhaust systems are designed as high performance replacement systems for the OEM exhaust system. which pose no threat to any other systems or functions on the vehicle.
If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emissions/warranty claims, contact the EPA at (202) 260-2080 or visit www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or visit www.ftc.gov.

All this being said, please feel free to PM me with all of your questions regarding tuning your vehicles and check out our product page for the COBB device for more info : https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-991...accessport-v3/

Here is some information about gains with a COBB Accessport with a custom tune we did for a customer.

Baseline power with SOUL Competition X-Pipe Exhaust System was 542 whp and 629 ft-lbs of torque. A COBB Accessport base map pushed power to 581 whp and 733 ft-lbs of torque. A custom Protune pushed peak power to 606 whp and 749 ft-lbs of torque. The pro tune on the COBB yielded smoother power delivery across the RPM range.

Thanks all!

So you recommend the COBB with a custom tune as opposed to downloading one of the "off-the-shelf" tunes on the device?

How much power can I actually gain just from Stage 1, without changing exhaust, etc... on 98RON (i.e. 93)?

Besides exhaust are you planning on making any other modifications? (IPD Y-pipe or Plenum) ?

Went to their website, all I found were tunes for the 718, panamera, cayenne and Macan. I didn't see any for 911s.

Even for tune only you want a protune, the cobb OTS stage 1 flash is rarely an improvement over stock, regardless of what their marketing drawn dyno graphs show. If anything ive only seen it lose power, my car wasn't any faster with it. A stock 991 will do 60-130 in the high 7's , tune only pump 93 with a real protune from EsMotor will put you in the lower 7's. A real increase thats felt.
