If you’re still spinning well beyond the 60’, the rule of thumb of better trap speed doesn’t apply. BTW, I’m not a newbie to the drag strip.

Stock, the car would dead hook. Now, it frys the tires thru 2nd, everywhere. I think we can assume it’s becuase it’s making substantially more power.

I’m not sure what a bone stock 911.1 would trap at under the same weather, but I wouldn’t be even slightly worried to race one. No way will a stock 991.1 out run a stage 2 COBB (though it would likely provide a better 60’ on stock tires).
Yeah I'm not disagreeing with you about the stage 2 OTS maps. I just said that a stock 991 in decent conditions and traction should run the 1/4 in the high 10's . Traction removed from the equation on the roll a stage 2 will definitely be faster.

The OP asked about doing just an OTS stage 1 tune and keeping it at that, and my opinion on it is that I think its a waste of money, as the results gained are placebo at best, again my opinion. For the money spent Id rather buy an exhaust, get the same negligible performance increase but at least enjoy hearing the car.

As far as traction goes, if you are on the stock 991.1 Pirellis then I'd highly recommend switching to the Michelin PS4's even on a bone stock car, the increase in traction, ride quality and noise will be the best mod. Mine with a lot more power would fairly consistently do low 10's on the street with 0-60s in 2.5 to 2.7 depending on pavement.

PS4’s are next. The dealer put new Pirellies on it before o bought it, and now they have 2500 miles. Might be awhile.

Are the new gen Pirelli’s as bad for traction as the ones that came on the 991.1 ?

I also want to switch to the Michelin’s but it’s hard to rationalize as my current Perelli‘s don’t have much wear or miles.

The new gen 4 P Zeros are almost the same as Michelin Pilot 4S or very close but the OEM Pirellis on 991.2 still seems to be gen 3 pirellis, which are not nearly as good, unfortunately, with the biggest issue being tire noise.

Thanks. I’ll know in 2 weeks if I won or lost the tire lottery.

What's the tire designation on the newer Pirelli, and do the Porsche dealerships use them? Because I had mine replaced last year and after 6K+ miles, they seem to have the same grip and noise as the original OEMs. P0 N1 on the tire.

Mine had the same, I put the Ps4's on as soon as they came out and sold the Pirellis on ebay. If they are the original 991.1 spec ones, then the PS4s will literally transform the car. My car went from doing 0-60 in 3.1 3.2 on the street bone stock to full bolts on with the ps4's and doing 2.5 on the same street consistently . While silent on the highway and much more stable feeling and a way better ride. Best money spent guaranteed.

I've heard the same thing about the brand new ones.

So wait, how can you tell if you got the newer version of the P Zeros? Does anyone know. Maybe all we need to know is the manufacture date?
