I was surprised when they said I couldn't drive back into the garage for a week. Agreed that the big hassle is moving everything out and back in though. The bonus is that you can throw away the 75% of junk you don't need and move back in the 25% that you actually use - then it really looks clean and tidy!
Enjoy the TTs. i like the TT/S in silver - am biased a little.. |
Sweet job on both the car and garage, good size beer fridge as well...
Enjoy! |

Nice car and garage. Car Color fits the garage quite well. Congrats on 2 projects completed.

Gorgeous car, natch. Love garage porn, too -- I've been putting off doing a racedeck in mine for the same reason (move **** out, move **** back in).

Garage floor is so worth the effort once it’s all done!!

Congrats!...love the turbo in GT Silver. Just curious why did you go from a Cab to a Coupe and do you miss the Cab?

Another less important aspect is my desire to track the car. I have a couple friends who drive coupes and go to the track every once in a while. I haven't done it yet but like that option is there since I think it's the only way you can fully experience the Porsche 911 in it's element. I know in some places you are allowed to track a cab but I don't think I'd be comfortable on a track without a solid roof over my head. In retrospect, my perfect 911 cab is a 7MT non-turbo that is more of a fun cruiser than street legal race car like the Turbo S. It was also an excuse to buy another car - I ordered a Jeep Wrangler so we can have the top down experience with the family. |
Woody7, Thanks for your reply. Totally understand. I’ve also had cabs in the past and fully sympathize. The glass roof on your car is a good compromise! Once again congratulations what a beautiful car! |
Woody7--I'm curious. Do you have no confidence in the pop-up roll bars? I know most tracks don't respect them but I assume they are well-engineered.

I agree with Bruce... the pop up roll bar offers more peace of mind than a car without, but it's still not as safe as a coupe. These cars have such a low center of gravity that a rollover is very unlikely, so it comes down to your own level of paranoia - which for me is higher when I have kids in the car.

My 17 year old daughter rolled her E46 BMW 330ci a year ago, and the rollover bars popped up just as designed, and she was able to climb out of the car, once she figured out how to get out of the seatbelt while upside down. Thank god these things actually work as designed. I have a 17 TTS without a sunroof, just for the added safety, but it's all worth the brain cycles when thinking about safety. Nice purchase, and I love GT Silver, too!!

Just noticed in your signature you were able to procure a GT2 RS Weissach - that is one serious machine! Very few of them out there too. |
