Do we know when the 992 turbos will be announced? When will allocations be available?

Probably sometime in 2020. Check with your rep at the dealership. You may be able to secure an allocation spot late Fall of 2019.

Yes that's right. For 991, C2 and C2S were 2012, C4 and C4s 2013, Turbos, GTS and GT3s 2014.

In the case of the 992, we know that the C4S and C2S launch first. My guess is base Carreras will be next. Then Turbos and GT3s in 2020 as 2021 models. Targas will be after that.

Unless they make the Turbo cars a lot nicer inside than the current 992, I don't think it's an option for me. I really dislike what they've done with the interior, it looks more austere than elegant now. And the toggle switches on the dash remind me of my Duramax truck.

Just to be clear, it's not a 992...it's the 991.3. It's built on the same chassis/platform as the 991. It's the same thing they did with the 996/997.

Same chassis with same wheelbase you are right. However the front track width on the new Carrera 4S is 2% wider than the rear, following many Porsche racing cars philosophy. The 991 version as we know it, has a track width 2.xx% narrower in the front than the rear.. Also front track width of the new 991/992 is 2% wider than the 991.2 turbo.

It's a 992 for sure. Almost everything in the new car is .. new. Including the entire chassis.

Nope, it's on the same 991 platform. Same wheelbase, same windshield and glass...just a major refresh. The media has gotten it wrong over the past couple of years, and I think that's why I'm so disappointed. The next gen after this likely gets the all-new MSB-H/M Platform by VW group you are thinking of that will be shared with the 718/R8/Huracan and allow mid-engine or rear engine and hybrid and EV versions of these cars, as well as possible future models. This platform will not be ready until 2025-2026, according to VW group press releases. A lot of the media seems to report incorrectly that the car is all new.

So the car we have here is the 991.3.

R&T magazine (11/18): "The basic underlying structure and 96.5-inch wheelbase of the 991 has been carried over here". Motor Trend (12/18): "Porsche's 992 series, due to arrive in the US in 2019, is essentially a makeover of the existing car. An all-new 991 doesn't appear until the next-gen model, when it will shift to the Porsche-developed MSB-H/M architecture"

Interesting that there are no Ceramic Brakes or Center Locks.

Third brake light is on the ducktail and not the rear air vent like the standard 992.

Who knows? Only Porsche does!
