Thank you for the warning. We'll be sure to stay clear for a bit.

Best of luck

My son turned 15 last July.... what better car to start on! Like a golf cart, just a little faster....

(You can be sure he won’t be driving it anytime soon without me in the passenger seat!)

This is why I bought a manual boxster to learn on.... but with me as a passenger I let him drive all of them (except lambo)

My suggestion is that you teach them on a manual...makes them anticipate there next move well in advance.

Don’t currently have a MT in the stable but thinking about getting one for them to learn on.

There’s no additional charge while he’s on the permit, even though he’s now on our policy, but I believe we were quoted +$500/mos once we get him a car as it’s under our policy and includes all cars.

I like nearly as much being a passenger when he’s driving as I do driving it myself. Memories to cherish, they grow up too quickly.

Congrats to you guys. You are terrific parents to let them learn on your 911s.

So absolutely true....love it when he drives me...we did a road trip from Seattle to Austin this past summer and it was some of the most memorable moments of my life which included visiting a friend in Omaha who is a Porsche instructor and renting a track there and having my son be instructed by him....it was so much fun we will do a trip to Monterey this year.

Good parenting really pays off when our kids hit the road on their own. Kids that have learned respect and to take responsibility tend to reward us with conscious if not conservative use of the driving privilege.

I was amazed by my son's more calm driving style after him growing up with my somewhat faster and alert driving style. He is super comfortable just cruising down the road and has little interest in my sports cars or anything that has any flash to it. It is interesting that he had so much fun as a kid being driven to the beach with his buddies and their surfboards in a 911 cab and now enjoys being Mr. Invisible in a car...

Sometimes the apple rolls out from the shadow of the parental tree and grows up straight and tall on its own terms.

Both of my daughters had full use of my Corvettes when they got their licenses. The older one loved the manual transmission. I got an automatic for my younger daughter. They were both responsible drivers and enjoy cars.
My 12 year old granddaughter desparately wants my manual transmission 997 when she gets her permit and I will do what I can to make it happen
