991 TTS fog lights?

There is a fog light symbol to the left of the headlight switch. Is it functional?

It illuminates a rear left tail light...it's a European thing

How do you turn it on?

Dennis C 01-18-2019 04:59 PM

Pull it, as I recall.

mwlmd 01-18-2019 05:18 PM

Thank you!.. Will give that a try.

As I recall, you have to turn the headlight switch to full on (all the way to the right) in order to pull on the fog light switch. It won't pull out when set on "auto".

Yes exactly. I was trying to pull it in auto with no luck.

Thanks.

All correct....but be careful. It is a European “thing” as a fog light. In the US, it will look like a car with a tail-light out on one side, and attract attention from the authorities.

I don't think I will actually use them. I was mostly curious to know if they were functional.

Sorry I forgot to mention that it wouldn't work in auto mode!

I use my fog lights regularly. I live in the mountains, and we see significant fog fairly often. I see quite a few other cars using their fog lights too (including rear fog lights), so I'm not the only one out there!

It's a nice feature in bad weather, it illuminates the driver's lane from the back so you can see in the side mirror. :roflmao:

i cant find it now, but i believe when you activate the rear Fog light function on the 991, it changes the front headlight beam pattern to see better in fog conditions.
Found it. With the rear fog light on & at speeds below 43mph the headlight beams become wider to reduce glare (pretty smart)!
