Default Do I/we exercise our cars enough?

I have winter tires and wheels on my car and drive it year round. I rarely let it sit for more than a few days at a time. Often when I do do drive it I don’t get the chance to really push the car engine wise. I either run into too much traffic or the conditions don’t allow spirited driving. I know it is good to use our cars but would the performance be adversely effected by NOT doing frequent full throttle accelerations. I mean let’s face it just a few seconds on the gas and we are moving into arrest me territory.

I just refuse to go home until I can at least hit triple digits twice per trip, had to drive great distances to do this during the holidays, but now it's ok again. We are suppose to get snow this weekend so fun time will be over for a while. I just feel cheated when my right foot can't spend enough time on the floor.

I used to be just like hcvone above, but that was a different job and different highways. Now-a-days I rarely see triple digits. Floored it today to zipper into a line of cars where it merged from two to one lane, but at 62 MPH I was past EVERYONE.

Here in Virginia you don't have the luxury to hit three digit speeds for any length of time. I have a built in Radar jammer and detector just to be able to hit three digits on those rare occasions.

Every time I take my car out I make sure to properly rev it all the way thru the rev band after the engine is properly warmed up. A few times is ideal on high speed freeway runs.

How helpful is the waze app in VA, or does it just tell you there's police every other mile on any given route?

This winter since I'm into the cold temps now I'll be about once a week driving my TT. But when I do, proper warm up, exercise the rev band, maybe up to 5000 rpm...then Cadillac on in till Spring.

So does putting it through the paces so to speak improve its performance or does it not really matter? Again, I do realize it is good if not great to drive the car.

I’m still a firm believer in the “Eye-talian Tune-up.” It’s not as big a deal as it was with last Century’s cars, but I think it does the injectors good to operate at ‘full tilt’ periodically.

Its also important to operate ‘moving’ parts - like mirrors, sunroofs, etc - periodically. And, anything that pumps stuff or has seals (e.g. front-axle lift, pneumatic front air damn, etc.)

I use Waze all the time but its not full proof 100 % of the time so I can't rely on that as my sole source for detecting law enforcement.
It just gives me more peace of mind with the Radar Jammer and Detecter along with the Waze app, you can never be too careful with our TTS.

Yeah, I know but its not as close to me as it is to you in Richmond.
Hopefully I can get down there this summer eventually.
