My commute is under 5 miles but I daily my tts anyway and still manage to rack up 20k miles in 2 years. The drawbacks with using this car as a daily are 1) constant worry of getting hit by the commuter prius/etc., and 2) taking a depreciation hit from the added mileage if you ever plan on selling/trading in. #2 is still a concern for me even though I purchased CPO with 10k miles--I shudder at what trade in offers I'd get if I go north of 50k miles.

I thought about adding one as a DD for a while (.2). I assume if I spend ~$170k out the door on the car CPO with similar mileage ('17), my trade 4 years later using it as a DD will probably be in the high 60's/low 70's @ 50k mileage. So figure $2,000 monthly in depreciation to be safe.

Both those reasons are valid but they pertain to 99% of the cars on the road. The car is meant to be driven and if one is too worried or fearful to drive a car because of the cost well then, they are less expensive options for someone to choose that won’t cause such a worry. Also, it’s a Porsche so it will reach a depreciation plateau that after x amount of miles or years it will be minuscule in cost depreciation. And you’ll get far more enjoyment racking up the miles than not.

This. TTS is meant to be a daily. GT3 RS is a different story.

Enjoy

hey guys, dun want to open different thread, i noticed that my oil level when looking at the electronic gauge is less then half full when the engine is cold, they changed oil week ago.
Obviously when the car is warm it goes to 75% full is this normal ? i know that when the engine is cold the oil is much thicker and is sinking, there isnt any sign of leak beneath the car.

I'm paranoid so criticism is welcome

Thanks in advanced.

excellent. My sentiments are the same. I will be buying a 991.1TT in the next 6 months. It will be my daily for 12 months of the year I plan on putting snow tires on it and a ski rack.
The onlu question I have is should I keep my 2013 C2S? It is manual with all the right options. SC,PSE, and more.

Great thread. Thanks.

yes you’re fine. Oil expands when hot. Thus, the difference between checking it on a cold vs. hot engine. Manual recommends that the oil measurement be 3/4 full not topped off. Occasionally check the oil when the engine is hot and on a flat surface to see if you need to add oil periodically. And most importantly DRIVE

You ok on the oil. Just check that it does not go down.
As for DD-ing I do DD my TTS as all my previous 911s. Love it. My commute is on the border for a full warm-up (about 9 miles). Traffic helps

TO CPBMD
You will probably find yourself driving the TT all the time and the C2S will sit.....I would trade it on the TT or upgrade to a TTS - 991.2.......before further depreciate..you can always shift the TT/TTS with the stick or paddles and the point of shifting really is when your brain tells you to shift, so that keeps the connection to the car....you will love the PDK in the TT/TTS in sport plus mode.........

I really appreciate the advice. I was thinking about it today and I think you are correct. Apparently when most Porsche guys go from a Carrera or Carrera S to a 911 Turbo they never go back. I drove a Turbo last week at night unfortunately and I really liked it. The feel and stability of the car is amazing. I have to drive it again in the day. It had a multi function SW which was okay. I got to try a turbo with the paddles too.

The other thing I plan on doing is driving it all year around. I am not going to put it away for 6 months a year like have have been doing for the last 10 years. Life is too short. From what I have read the turbo does well in the winter. I live in NH so it will see snow. However most of the time the roads are clear.

Thanks again, CB

That is a beautiful Turbo. The wheels, brakes and car color go perfectly together. It’s moving art IMO. Love it.
