Spare tire - information request - question
Saw this below information on a GT3 build on another thread...it sits in the front seat. I had this situation with my SL 65 and got a spare from Germany. Has anyone ordered this spare for their Turbo?
Anyone able to get additional information on this option number 445? Any information helps.......handy to have a spare on a long trip.... Could fit in our backseat area in the TTS or TT............EDIT UPDATE - found out it is option code 447 for the TT/TTS for center lock wheels - about $ 1,000 US......waiting for part number......PCA discount may help a bit... 003 Clubsport Package 082 90lt Fuel Tank 24931 Color to Sample (Riviera Blue 39E) 445 Spare Tire 474 Lift 486 6 Speed Manual 630 Light Design Package 789 Handling Option (ext. color) 7X9 Reversing Camera 9VL Bose CXX Headlight Cleaning System Riviera Blue EKG Interior Carbon Package P11 Full Bucket Seats P13 Rainsensor with Dim. More spare tire information - pricing, etc....on parts
Went to dealer today and found out the following regarding parts to mount a spare inflatable - you could delete the cover parts, the last two listed...........expensive......
At this point might be cheaper to buy one center lock wheel - a front wheel to ensure it fits over the rotors and calipers. Tirerack has some wheels at 49 and 55 offset for the front. OEM offset is 51 front, 56 rear. I think I'll go for the 49 for the spare that can be used on both front and back if I get a flat, etc.. Part Number Item Cost 991-362-021-01. Emergency Wheel. $ 997.76 991-362-193(5)-00. Spacers - 2 $ 384.96 - rear and front axle 997-361-161-00 Extension $ 503.16 - ????? - no answer on what this description is yet....might be a tool to center wheel and assist mounting? 991-362-191-00. Adapter wheel $ 179.23 991-361-181-50 Emergency wheel center lock - $ 256.14 991-722-061-02. Cover $ 866.76 - ridiculous price - new part that replaced a $ 355.00 part 991-722-073-00. Cover straps. $ 40.95 Total without cover parts = $ 2321.25 With Cover = $ 3228.96 Of course, you then need a breaker bar, torque wrench and good jack - estimate another $ 500.00 - Porsche scissors jack is $ 283.61 Part number 996-721-211-00 ( should have kept mine from my C4S);)) Interesting information........PCA discount saves 10%, but basically a $ 2,800 expense at minimum, unless extension part? is not needed.......have to find out what that is...part number 997-361-161-00............if anyone knows please advise...thanks in advance..... What is really crazy is that if you order it as an option code 447 on a Turbo S the total cost is about half or less...........next time............GT3 option code is 445...in the market in Chile, the spare with cover is $ 705.00. |
If you order this with your new car, where does all this equipment reside? Is it all under the bonnet in the front?
|
They are small parts that can be stored in the trunk....the tire would go in the back seat.......
Personally, I am going to order a regular front rim from Tirerack with a Pirelli P-Zero to match OEM......that should work temporarily as a spare in emergencies......this front rim should fit over rear calipers/rotors also since they are smaller.........OEM Offsets are 51 front, 56 rear so a 51 OEM front rim should work all around.....Tireack has a 49 and a 55 offset OZ wheel for the front, so I may go with 49 as the best fit....... Much less expensive with a real spare tire, albeit a front one.......about a third of the cost or more of inflatable, if even accessible from Porsche.......plus regular tire stability........ |
