Cobb PDK Tune for the win!
Full review to come once I try all the maps, but WOW...
Setup was quick and easy thanks to Sam from By Design. Had about a 10 mile ride to the gym and didn't get on too hard at first as I wanted to get a feel for it. On the way home I got on it full power in auto....all I can say is WOW. I was literally riding down the road with a huge smile on my face..lol. Shifts are lighting fast and very crisp. Has transformed the car! I wanted to post because I had read some mixed reviews about it that IMO were a little misleading. Sam gave me the guarantee so I went for it. I'm very happy so far....I look forward to trying out all the maps. (The map a ran was the sport PDK map on a Stage 3 991.1 Turbo S)

Thanks for the review buddy and thank you for posting this. I think the PDK software is awesome and just as fun as adding horsepower...Well, almost! I hope it answers questions for a lot out there.

Thanks again for answering all my questions! Improving the transmission to utilize the added power makes sense to do. Plus, the smiles it generates is worth the cost.

So the car was already Stg. 3 tuned, but you just added the PDK and you're saying that it made the car feel even "faster" / "quicker"?

Hey Big D! I think Cm has been busy but I can confirm the cars put more power down and shift faster making them quicker!
Hi bob, The 991.1 is very much like the GT3RS with tips tuning and shared many of the calibration enhancements as well as more. For 991.2 cars have a different strategy. Same transmission and clutch. Like the rest of the car the 991.2 managers to be smoother and quicker at everything. Amazing engineering how they can make everything better every time. The 918 has a few differences in the valve body and solenoid system. But again same gearbox. Soon Cobb will get into the 991.2 PDK and work that as well. For now the upgraded .1 has the most visceral feel while maintaining extremely smooth factory drivability all depending on load, throttle position and setting.

Does the PDK tune help eliminate some of the hesitation from a start that is often present with the OE 991.1 PDK? If so, that alone might be worth the upgrade.

^ Yes Dennis..!!...This for me is the biggest irk of this car...like a flat spot/hesitation on start from stop...I even purchased a pedal box to try to improve on this condition although I have not yet installed....(getting gas pedal off has proven to be a tough task)

I have the Cobb tune in my '14 TTS and have the PDK Upgrade installed. I chose Cobb "Sport" mode not "Aggressive" (my preference). The shifting, IMO, is a great improvement. I rarely drive the car in auto but if I do the shifting is much more livable than stock where the car seemed to be in 7th gear at 25mph.
In Sport or Sport Plus mode the shifting is razor sharp and precise and the car behaves much better from a standstill as Dennis was asking. I did install and perform the PDK Relearn which Sam recommended to me and I would recommend to all. I have had service done where I uninstalled and reinstalled with no issues. Really like this tune.

Does it bother anyone that the + and - manual shift directions don't match the PDK tune? Can one swap out to a GT3 console with the correct shift orientation?

Remember that is only on the sequential map which is one of several provided. You don’t have to run it but you could also change that bezel it works. I have not confirmed but I believe you can also run the one from the 2018 Porsche made that change on all of the TTS cars as well.

Cobb, if you're reading, please consider making the PDK options available on all maps. Sequential shift, no creep, no kick down, and no neutral coast on all PDK maps (with or without those features). I want the "High Torque/Aggressive" map but i don't like the backwards stalk shifting in the 991.1 Turbo S. Sam please mention this to Cobb next time you chat with them.

Hey guys, sorry I have been traveling and not on here over the last few days. Yes, to me the car feels like its quicker. I have no numbers to prove that, but from the one map I have used I like it. This coming week I plan to drive the car more and try other maps.
