Ferrari 488 Pista

whatbdoes this board think....is the Ferrari 488 Pista worth $345K versus $200K for a TT?

Performance wise, no.
Every other reason YES.

hcvone 06-11-2018 05:56 PM

That's almost the price of my 812

I wouldn't say every other reason. Maintenance on the Ferraris is pretty high once you get past warranty. But they did make that experience much better.

Daily driver? 911

Occasional driving? 488

Not sure what it's like to drive a Pista, but I think the 458 Speciale would make a better garage mate for a 911 TTS. Best of both worlds, Turbo and NA.

this. not a big fan of the 488 and i doubt the pista could change that.

The turbo in my 488 is not as noticable (barely) vs the 991 TTS or my older 997 and 996 TTs.

I liked my 991 TTS, but I prefer the 488. I am on the list for the pista. The reviews so far that I have read are good.

The Pista isn't a normal 488. Its the new speciale. Maybe super special speciale. The real comparison should be to the GT2. These are both track cars.

I read the details and I think the Pista looks amazing. I'm sure it will hold its value really well too, at least for the first couple of years.

A bitof an P.S. I have info on an unregistered delivered Pista in Europe. If anyone is wishing one Europe, UAE or any LHD country besides USA, PM me.

I rented the regular 488 Spider for a week on Adventure Drives 04 in Europe last year. Drove it about 2000 miles all over the Alps, on the Autobahn, Italy, Swiss mountain passes, Stelvio Pass.

Perfectly nice car but sort of boring and couldn't wait to get back in my 991 turbo S. Handled like a pig around town with huge turning circle and low ground clearance and rough transmission at lower speeds. Certainly is a looker but mechanically doesn't hold a candle to our cars.

Most certainly worth every penny.

TT is a great all-rounder and easier to manage town car but that is the beginning and end in this contest.

Performance of Pista will destroy TT much worse than how 488's superior performance already destroys TT.

Looks and sound, driving sensations all superior than TT especially outside of town where TT becomes quite boring in comparison.

In truth I would see GT2RS as more the car to be comparing Pista with in terms of performance and driving sensations. But I would again say the TT is the better car for town use than both....but it ends there.

Bit of a silly comparison. Compare the Pista to the GT2RS, Mac 675LT / 600LT, Performante, Speciale, etc. The more hardcore, track oriented, cars.

TT is almost in its own world for me. It's 2+2. GT. Comfortable. Rocketship in a straight line. Decent / sporty around bends but not a go-kart. AWD, could be a year arounder/ DD. Great sound with Burm. Great fit and finish. Can fly under the radar - much lower level of attention. Best at all of that stuff. for me.

Yes the op was not really a fair question to ask as it does not take into consideration many things. Those others really come into their own on a back road or track where they are superior, but around town and as dd the TTS becomes the true master. To own any of the others you really need two cars so best situation is to own both BUT if just one car can be owned then the TTS will prove the better solution!

I think its really comparing apples to oranges. From my own experience between the Turbo and my Huracan, The TTS is just such a well engineered all around performer. Even though it out performs my huracan probably in most categories, The visceral feeling in the Huracan is so much better at any speed....acceleration is maybe .1 seconds slower but it feels so much more violent and satisfying....I expect with the Pista its even more so. You can also compare a P100D that out performs all cars Zero to 60...however, the car I drove while pretty awesome, it was kind of empty to me and also the owner made the same admission. Really boils down to what you want...classical music or Rock-n-roll....I love them both but would never compare them.
