991 Turbo S as Daily Driver? First 911.
Hi Guys,
My first post. Potentially my second Porsche (?). Bought a CPO 981 Cayman GTS a few months back. Love it. Mildly mod'd it. Got the Porsche bug. Now considering a CPO Turbo S... as a daily driver. Questions/guidance:
Do these cars (991 Turbo S) make for good daily drivers? What do I need to know?
Which year/model 991.1 or 991.2 would you advise? Why?
I am planning on driving this thing until it (or I) die... so likely to get the car I want.
I wish I had unlimited finances, but I don't. Can afford a a new Turbo S... but don't want to extend myself for a new one. Sticking with a CPO model.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
L76

I daily drive a 991.2 TTS (w/ Sharkwerks exhaust) and before that had a 991.1 TTS and a 997 Turbo. 991.2 TTS is by far the best daily driver 911, IMO. It's very fast and very comfortable (normal/comfort mode.. or use the custom 'Individual' mode for comfort chassis settings and performance engine settings, that's what I normally enable). The 991.2 infotainment system is light years better than the 991.1 (Apple CarPlay / color touch screen) and the 991.2 also has a heated steering wheel (was a big deal for me, I hate cold mornings). Have fun, I doubt you'll regret either a 991.1 or a 991.2 TTS as a daily driver.

So far it's been a perfect daily driver with no issues. The engineers really did a great job.
I'm an aircraft maintainer and long time car builder so I do my own wrenching. I'm not sure if I would pick a newer 911 Turbo to drive forever if I had to pay labor and deal with dealer scheduling in addition to the parts costs. Well..maybe if I had DEEP pockets and an extra car...but it sounds like you're in the same boat as me.
And BTW...991.1's have optional heated steering wheels too (mine has it)...don't see it often though. The only thing I absolutely wish I had was a rear view camera (they didn't add it until Nov of 2013 w/Parkassist; mine is a September build).

I DD my 2015 Turbo S Cab every day and have for the last 3 years since new.. Put 35,000 miles on it so far.
I will be daily driving it until this Monday, when it's going back to the dealer and I'm picking up my new DD, a 2018 Turbo S Cab.
By far, the best Daily Driver in the world.
Don't give it a 2nd though. It is a fantastic daily driver.
Enjoy.....

Yes, it's a perfect DD if you don't need back seats. 18-way seats are exemplary, car just does not break, and you will notice no major difference between .1 and .2 as long as you get something with rear view camera. Don't hesitate.

I have a 2016 Turbo, ordered new. Now have 42,000 miles. only reason to go to the dealer is for service and mods, manifold, exhaust and aftermarket tune at Top Speed Motorsports in Atlanta.

I daily drive mine also. When I need it to be tame it is and when its unleashed its hard to find anything that will match it. Best car to DD out there.

Sounds almost exactly like me...I bought a 991.1 Turbo S w/12k miles a few months ago that I plan to own forever. While I wish I could swing a 991.2 I'm floored that I finally own my dream car and I just count my blessings that I could even get that.

About that rearview camera....give these guys a call I think this may answer your prayers. If it is compatible with your car, I'll take a 6 pack of Corona lol
