Default Limited Supply of 2017 & 2018 Turbo S cars

Hey Guys,

I am confused as to why Porsche decided to wind back the production of these vehicles?

Is it due to a manufacturing capacity or perceived future sales?

Ultimately it doesn't bother me as it means that the resale values will remain stronger and for me it just made it very hard to buy one.

They overproduced them, leading to massive depreciation for a few years. (My 2014 TTS was $192k new, and sold three years later for $132k - terrible cost of ownership, on par with McLaren's MP4-12C) I'd consider another brand next time if my TTS continues to depreciate so much! I'd like it to hold it's value as well as a GT3 or RS cars.

This exactly. They don’t want them selling well under MSRP, and that happened at times with the 991.1.

I've noticed lately that all years, used 911.1 and .2 turbo s car asking prices are actually going up, not down. I believe its due to the robust economy and sellers are getting much more demand for these cars. Some of the overpriced cars are not moving, but well equipped and competitively priced cars are selling fast. This is a good sign for our depreciation curves, as long as the economy holds up.

I was considering a new 911tt, but decided on a CPO 2015 911tt when I saw the availability at the great price.... it was $40K less than MSRP, with 18,000 miles on it. The neighbors don't know it's a used car LOL

Was going to order an 18' tts, when I was told of a 17' tts optioned the same way except is had 14 way seats not 18 way seats, so I buy the car with delivery to my home as part of the deal. Car shows up in a giant Lambo car carrier, with my Porsche and 4 Huracan's , car had 2002 miles and was perfect, not a stone chip, perfect, CPO added 2 years unlimited mileage so it's good until Jan 2023, saved 48k

It seems like used 991.1 and 991.2 TT/TTS prices are creeping back up, especially cabriolets. I purchased my 2014 TTS a year ago at 30% off MSRP with just 10k miles, and I haven't seen anything close since. Not sure if due to the roaring stock market (pullback incoming?) or the lower number of allocations for 991.2 TT/TTS.

I think you’ve hit it on the head - both of those. This is a luxury good not a basic need.

I just read an article in Total 911 magazine that Porsche has ceased production of almost all 991-generation cars from Zuffenhausen. According to the article they will still be completing orders on the GT3 RS's to
meet demand. But, Carrera and Turbo derivatives are no longer available to order, except for a few cars that have already been specced. The only car you can order now is a GTS. It seems that Porsche is turning
more of their energy to the anticipated new iteration of the 992.
